Tyler Polley is NOT the problem!
Way to go young blood, way to go!
Now it's the coaches fault he was allergic to rebounds before tonight? He doesn't hang around the 3 point line on defense. I'm really happy for Tyler. Great game. Keep bringing that effort. The he has been utilized and directed to play before tonight had been a problem.
I don't think it's an accident that a player who for two years has played 20+ mpg hanging on the perimeter is crushing the boards tonight and getting points in the paint.
Real nice for Polley to show coaches he is effective beyond a 3 specialist.
Maybe he manscaped too. Who the heck knows. If he plays, like he's clearly capable of, (ala Carlton against ECU last season and I hope this isn't the same scenario) this team is clearly much better.Looked like a different person out there tonight. The haircut may have unleashed a new man (I HOPE). Never thought I’d see the day he got 10 rebounds. Let’s hope it continues.
He was channeling Jeff Adrien tonight....dear lord do we need a Jeff Adrien on this team. It's not just the numbers, it was the fight

I kind of disagree but that's ok. I doubt it was their strategy for him not to rebound last year when he played the 4 almost the entire year. I think he's not glued to the bench because he's a junior and he could shoot and Sid is a bit mercurial. I don't necessarily think he was suddenly released to rebound tonight. I think he just decided to mix it up and not shy away from contact. His desire and aggressiveness was something we have not seen from him before. He was like a man possessed. It also probably helped a little that Tulane is not a great rebounding team or overly physical but I don't want to take away from his effort in any way. I hope it carries over. You can say fault, I'll say game strategy. Polley, for a year and a half, has never crashes the boards or driven the ball to the hoop. Yet he gets 20+ mpg. Obviously he is going what coaches expected or else he'd be glued to the bench.
Coaches saw something and released him to crash the boards. Results were really good for the team. Do I think he is going to ay at this level of productivity for rest of season? Of course not. I do like that we know he has skill to do this occasionally.
A lot of Polley's good interior play was without Josh - perhaps that had something to do with it?You can say fault, I'll say game strategy. So 7/15 is a bad shooting night?Confidence (and green light) enough to take 5 more shots than anyone else, miss 8 shots, even miss 2 FTs on one possession, and still record a double double.
He had a fantastic game overall but was 2-7 from 3. Team shot 22% from 3 and we beat Tulane at home by just a few points Instead of 20. A reprieve but no champagne. So 7/15 is a bad shooting night?
You’re looking at this wrong though. I thought we dominated the interior and played very hard. Sure we struggled from three but everything else was an improvement. We aren’t a great shooting team to begin with and it’s important that we are back (for now) playing hard and going after the ball and hoop aggressively. I think we’ll be back to normal from three soon.He had a fantastic game overall but was 2-7 from 3. Team shot 22% from 3 and we beat Tulane at home by just a few points Instead of 20. We’re gonna have to be to stay in against better teams. I always believe that AG And Vital will revert to their career averages and Polley is good for above 40%. That alone bodes well. You’re looking at this wrong though. I thought we dominated the interior and played very hard. Sure we struggled from three but everything else was an improvement. I think we’ll beat better teams by playing smothering defense and getting every loose ball. We aren’t good enough at offense and shooting. If we play soft we will lose every single time. We’re gonna have to be to stay in against better teams. Tulane is a terrible rebounding team. Even though, ty was aggressive as hell. Love to see it. Just dunk it some day though
