It matters who you put around them. When you have a 4 & 5 Star O Line to go with 4 & 5 Star skill players they can not only play, they can exceed expectations. Those who want to argue that stars don't matter are watching a different game than the rest of us. Stars 100% matter. When you add elite coaching to the mix you get Alabama. People don't need to like this for it to be true.

Stars matter for programs that can get 4* and 5* guys. They're meaningless to a program like ours simply because we will never sign them. There are so many football players that all of them can't possibly be evaluated

Schools like Alabama can bring in physically developed freshman who can play immediately. Yes, they also have great coaches to put them in good positions to succeed. A program like UConn has to bring in kids that still need to physically develop and perhaps learn more about football.

Unfortunately, the backup QB wasted a year of eligibilty sitting behind a soph QB (how promising did his Crimson Tide career look, even two weeks ago). And, Georgia's starting QB from a year ago is now "yesterdays newspaper) because he lost hs job to a freshman QB. And, somehow Georgia is managing to bring in another talented HS QB. . . . someone's gonna be sitting.

The point here is that these kids ought to smarten up - and somewhere there should be a kid that says "I'm gonna head to a program and start right away". In fact, you'd think that it would be very difficult for the Alabama's and Georgia's to recruit QB talent in some years because they already have stockpiled incumbent a bunch of talented QB's.
