UCONN will play in the Hall of Fame Women's Showcase. At Mohegan Sun.

11/21 vs Utah

Then on 11/23 vs winner of Michigan/Syracuse

Maybe a couple new teams. (Utah and Michigan)

This is good news. However, I am concerned with UConn’s OOC schedule next season. There is some noise that SC may not renew the series and I worry that other top teams may shy away from in-season matchups with the Huskies. TV money can create incentives for teams to schedule BIG OOC games, so I am hoping that my concerns are misplaced.

Think the Big East making them play 20 conference games instead of 18 will effect the quality of their non-con opponents, probably including SC.

Tv is all about the money and Uconn is money to ESPN. They will "hint" to some teams that Uconn would be a good addition to their schedule.
How much do the teams get paid for playing in a big game?

last year they played boston uni and i believe Fdu
still room for 2-3 more out of conference games
room for both south carolina and notre dame if both parties want to continue thecseries

I like this because I want UConn to play Michigan. I want to get a look at swords and Olson.
Be careful what you wish for. Kim Barnes Arico is an excellent coach. Her unranked St. John’s team defeated #2 UConn (at UConn) back in 2012. That victory was one of reasons why Kim was coaching Michigan the next season. Michigan played Florida State at the Mohegan Sun in 2019.

Wise to worry. I think the non-con may be down next season. Especially since usc won’t be as good as advertised.

And. The big east might be down again. Creighton should be worse at least.

UConn needs to play good teams in the nonconference for resume building. We will get plenty of cream puffs in conference

Yes, but those were prior to the new year and Geno stated he wanted a lighter schedule post new year.

I saw an ESPN article on the top 25 recruiting classes (UConn was 6th I believe) and Creighton was in the 20’s. Looks like they are getting some good 3 point sharp shooters. Hopefully they will present a challenge to UConn in the conference.

I don't think Geno thinks in terms of resume building but rather team building. He wants away games against the best teams when he can get them to replicate the NCAA atmosphere. If not away, then home or at XL. Look at how last season turned out. If we don't lose to Tennessee at Tennessee we don't win it all.

Yes, the two should happen concurrently, of course.

All the more reason not to be afraid of playing a team like Michigan.
He has said repeatedly he will play anybody, anywhere. Just don't treat the women's game differently than the men's or you will hear him, thank God.

And can you point to any source of that noise that SCar is the party that may not renew?

Since I brought it up, I can only tell you that I read it somewhere. It may have been idle gossip. I believe the point was that Dawn was concerned about having a tough OOC game in the middle of a tough SEC schedule.

I hope I am wrong. I think the SC-UConn game is a really good test for both teams heading down the stretch towards their conference championships and the Big Dance, and it’s great for WBB.

Certainly, this past season, UConn’s 2 OOC games in February against TN & SC were both pivotal in preparing the Huskies for their championship run in March, and SC had their own dominant run after losing to UConn that lead them back to a championship game.

In this thread, we also have SluConn reporting that UConn may want to avoid the second half of the season game because UConn will have two more conference games this year in the post New Year’ schedule.

I want the game to be played. I believe that ESPN and FOX want the game played. fans of both teams want the game played. Let’s hope the head coaches and admins also want it played. But, we don’t’ know their thoughts.

I didn't think it was so much that she didn't want to play the game as that she didn't wanna play it during the conference portion of the season.

Yes, and their bank accts want the game played. Amen to the fans who want the game played. Just take the camera off Dawn when she throws her "F" bombs around. ;) Yes, the Huskies want the game, bring it on.

Yes, hopefully that will make at least 10% of our conference regular season a challenge.

The bolded portion of your post assumes that UConn beats Utah on 11/21. If they don't, they would play the loser of Michigan/Syracuse.
