TWO more bite the dust. Texas and Oklahoma go down

Texas and Oklahoma are not undefeated and longer. California beat Oklahoma and Notre Dame beat Texas. I did not want to go into the ND game with them losing 3 in a row. The ranks are thinning out. GO HUSKIES!!!!
That (OT) had to take a lot out of ND, then they have Syracuse away before us. They are exclusively a 3 guard team with Hildago running point. I would expect Geno to be able to take a lot from film on this one.

You just gave me a me a reason to be interested in 2027 recruits. You have 11 years on me. Keep it going.
I can guarantee that I will keep it going. I am planning on watching UCONN Huskies until GENO retires. I have little that I get any enjoyment out of and UCONN Women's BB is my greatest source of any happiness I have. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!! P.S. I am really old school. To me ,the best time ever in my life was the whole 10 years of the 50's

I watched the TX vs ND game and bodies were flying all over the court!
No calls, lousy referring again!
I haven't seen 1 good referring game all season so far!
Maybe so, but Texas lost because they have no reliable three-point shooters. Vic is never going to win anything until he changes his coaching approach to reflect the realities of today’s game. Look what is happening at Tennessee. A team with a rotation of six has no business beating a team with a rotation of 10.

I don't know about that. My biggest issue with Texas was that ND had 3 of their 6 players with 4 fouls and TX made no effort to go at them and draw a 5th. They were settling for outside shots and couldn't break the zone.

Thank You. I am 91 years old and I make some dumb mistakes. I knew it was Alabama, but when I wrote the post Oklahoma came to my mind. Thank you for correcting me.
Amen to that. I turn 85 in four days and constantly make dumb mistakes even when I have re-read what I planned on posting. But, I too, want to keep on going and posting until Geno retires.

I beg to differ. TX tried to force feed their Big, Oldacre, in the low post over and over, often when she was double and triple teamed, leading to a bunch of turnovers. ND continued to pack in their zone, practically daring TX to shoot 3’s. Harmon in particular was left all alone at the top of the key.

While it will never happen, I would love to see ND run that same packed in zone against UConn next week. Can you imagine giving Paige that much room to shoot at the top of the zone? :)

Texas is terrible from the arc right? Hence why they used that defensive scheme.

Texas had 23 turnovers which included 15 steals by the Irish. Many were caused by trying to push the ball into the post. The game was lost on turnover points and poor shooting by Texas. Booker disappeared in OT and shot only 30 percent for the game. All good data points for the Huskies. Hidalgo looks as feisty as ever and Miles made an incredible shot at end of regulation that should have won the game if not for an errant foul by the Irish with one second left.

And it just wasn't that one game. I watched the others last night and I honestly believe the game intensity and players abilities now call for the best and brightest in officiating. Perhaps there needs to be an upgrade in this area.

For me the 60s. Graduated hs, UConn, Uconn Law (well, in 1970) and got married. Great music in a tumultuous decade.

Harmon previously was a good outside shooter but last night she looked nothing like her old self. She used to be as bothersome as Hildago. Also, UConn had a rotation of seven and beat a number of teams with a larger rotation. Not many teams have a rotation of ten.

Agree with everything you said, especially your last sentence. On the subject of this thread, I hope when the month of December is over, UConn will still be on the unbeaten list.

I definitely agree that last nights game with Tex-ND was a BADLY officiated game. I will say I have seen quite a few other games where the refereeing was pretty good-including the Kentucky-UNC game and the LSU-Stanford games last night. It was noted that ND triple teamed Oldacre (due to Taylor Jones getting injured) and they were HACKING at her every time without a call. My fear is the same poor officiating will again occur at ND on Tuesday which protects their thin bench.

Texas is an offensively challenged team to begin with and only has Madison Booker who can shoot. The good news is we have more scorers but the bad news is our guards can't defend the way Texas can. While Harmon is an atrocious shooter, she is a phenomenal defender and Miles and Hidalgo still had great games. I worry about Kaitlyn both guarding one of them and then having Hidalgo guarding her.

Your post made me curious, so I checked Harmon’s stats. As a freshman she shot a pedestrian 22/69 from the arc (.319). As a sophomore she shot an anemic 8/52 (.154). Before her injury last season she was 7/22 (.318). So far this year she is shooting a terrible 2/15 (.133), her worst % in her career.

Harmon has never been a great 3-pt shooter. But as a freshman and junior, at least she was a serviceable 3-pt shooter. But this year, with defenders playing so far off of her, Harmon clearly lacks the confidence to shoot even uncontested 3’s.

seeing ND-TX has me convinced that if uconn can be careful with the ball, avoid rushing and minimize stupid decisions and sloppy play it will have no trouble with the irish (or tex if it is ever a foe), especially if westbeld and other inactives can get up to speed next week. i REALLY would appreciate the expected superior shot-making makes the scene at last -- it's past due.

Joe Vaszily was one of the refs. He seems to have replaced Dee Kantner as an ESPN favorite. IMO, you never know what to expect from him. But I think you are very likely to see at least one "WT!" call per game.
When I saw the OK vs Louisville box score with 50+ PFs called, I was shocked that Joe wasn't involved.

I am thinking double team here, with KK and Ash subbing in for Kaitlyn and Azzi hoping to wear the ND duo out by the 4th quarter.

Disappointed AG won't be back. I honestly feel like she's the factor we're missing. Our most athletic, fastest defender on the team by far. We could probably contain one of Miles or Hidalgo with Aubrey's help.

The upper echelon of ten to twelve teams will be knocking each other off for the remainder of the season.........one bad loss and you're out......that's why the rankings mean so little at this time of the year

Harmon appears to me quite tentative, a step slow, and just not trusting her body yet. Not an unusual situation for a player returning from ACL injury, but a bit sad to see her nowhere near the level she was at 12 months ago.

Boreifs- - - true the refing didn't lose the game for TX, but I'm tired of lousy refs in WBB!
WBB need to fire all present refs and get competent ones!
