Given that it was a very ugly, low scoring game not surprised. Offense sells these games.

All those Bama fans rooting for or against Mizzou? Different division but loss would hurt the SEC image?

I think that's just what they do. If college football is being anywhere, they're watching it in Alabama.

Nice that folks in CT watched. Curious about surrounding DMA ratings as well.

It's not bad, given that it wasn't expected to be a high scoring affair. Not great but not bad.

If this site is to be believed, the game had about as many viewers as Tulsa-Oklahoma on FS1, Illinois-UNC on ESPN2, USF-Maryland on ESPNU and the Premier League on NBC Sports Network - combined (1.903 million vs. 1.946 million).

It also had more viewers than any cable TV game until USC-Georgia, which began at 6 o'clock (3.189 million), and was barely surpassed by Texas Tech-Arkansas at 8 o'clock (1.914 million), but completely crushed by Ole Miss-Alabama at 9 o'clock (7.605 million).

Fourth-most watched game of the day on cable? Not too shabby.

The 5am replay of our game outdrew the 6am replay or Bama-Ole Miss. BAM!

The power of being on ESPN vs 2, U, watch ESPN, SNY, CBSSN.

And where was CBSS? Didn't see it on that rating link. Navy was on there last week and that is where we are banished to again this week.

Great stuff. We did better than I thought on the ratings - at least compared to cable. We way outdrew USF-Maryland with just 293k viewers at the same time slot on ESPN2.

CBS Sports doesn't pay for the right to be rated.

Air Force MSU was pumped all week as the only possible upset game. Outside of MO and CT the game was barely mentioned let alone previewed.

Does checking the score on my cell phone every 5 minuets count int eh TV ratings? LOL.

I was not able to watch as I had to coral a U10 boys soccer team for team pictures at 11:50, then a co-ed Kindergarten soccer team for pictures at 12:40, run home and feed my kids (wife was away) and then run back to coach the same Kindergarten team at 2:30. Why do I only remember as a kid myself having fun playing sports and not this side of it, LOL.

With all the options to watch online I really think the number is skewed. I can watch the game anywhere and not count towards television ratings. Just wait though until we go B1G in a year or two... attendance and tv ratings will skyrocket!

What drove the ratings on the TV rebroadcast was a curiosity as to how Mizzou got beaten down so badly by the Huskies---and the drama of that final play. That play will loom large in the transformation of how the public perceives us. Without it we would be just another close game loss. With it we are must see TV. Remember that play. It will live on in Husky lore

What drives the ratings at 5am is a handful of people in ratings homes who fell asleep with the TV on.

Obviously. And its funny to see that seemingly only one NBA employee remembered to leave their tv on all night.

I never noticed this note before it may be new this season?:

What we need to do is get some people signed up. All of 13 people gets you 77k 'viewers'.

Note: viewership of around 100,000 or lower is technically what Nielsen refers to as a “scratch” i.e., not enough Nielsen panelists watched for Nielsen to validate it. There are around 20,000 homes in the Nielsen panel and a bit over 50,000 panelists, where 1 Nielsen panelist watching a whole telecast represents around 5,800 people. So something averaging a million viewers averaged around 170 people out of the 50K+ panel — small, but still statistically significant. But when there’s a show with 30,000 viewers, that’s only around 5 or 6 Nielsen panelists…

Last I checked Hartford/New Haven had 1 million cable homes so a 4.1 would be about 41k households. To compare the Louisville win in 2012 was a 3.0 - 30k households. But that's ESPN versus SNY.
