We have Paige and they don't.![]()

Unanimously?! Cannot imagine that.I think it's clear that UConn will be the pre-season favorite, most likely unanimously. What are you folks expecting for the top 4-5 teams, pre-season All-Conference team, etc.? I think at least Paige and Christyn get recognition. Geno doesn't think pre-season FOY makes sense, and I agree, but I like Azzi. I really, really like Azzi.

There is only one true USC and that is in California and they won't be in the top five.I can see UCONN as 1,2, or 3 with Stanford and USC in the mix with us.

If there's no disagreement on who is #1, then NO ONE should ever argue that UConn doesnt get enough respect.
- Stanford returns almost everyone from a very deep team.
- If SC can hit a put-back, they probably win the NC. And they add about as much as UConn does.
fwiw, I'd have 1 SC / Stan / UConn / Md / NCSt
2nd Team
Ashley Owusu, junior guard, Maryland
Ashley Joens, senior wing, Iowa State
Haley Jones, junior guard, Stanford
Naz Hillmon, senior forward, Michigan
Elissa Cunane, senior center, NC State
Honorable mentions: Mackenzie Holmes, Indiana; Kamilla Cardoso, South Carolina; Te-Hina Paopao, Oregon; Queen Egbo, Baylor; Taylor Jones, Oregon State; Emily Engstler, Louisville; Diamond Johnson, NC State.
Freshman of the Year
Azzi Fudd, guard, UConn
Keep putting logs on CW's fire. Some transfers on the Honorable Mention list, including 2 who left Cuse.
If I'm Christyn Williams, I'm pi$$ed at being omitted.
No Stanford in the Athletic’s women’s college basketball first-team All-Americans. And SI has Stanford as #3, behind UConn and SC.Unanimously?! Cannot imagine that.

Not disagreeing with you, but I saw a poll last weekI think it's clear that UConn will be the pre-season favorite, most likely unanimously. The way they are picking seems to be connected to how strong the surrounding team is. The stronger the team, the less individual stats (especially scoring) will result. No Stanford in the Athletic’s women’s college basketball first-team All-Americans. And SI has Stanford as #3, behind UConn and SC.

I can't believe Christyn Williams is not in the second team or even Honorable mentions. Some transfers on the Honorable Mention list, including 2 who left Cuse.

Could also play Boston 30 and Cardoso 15. Both can be super aggressive (not worry about fouls) and only overlap for 5.Boston and Cardoso are formidable but it will be interesting to see how they work together. It seems like they play the same position. Can they prosper together?

We have a similar issue with Olivia and Dorka but Olivia is a good passer and seems to be a good option at the high post. Dorka is, hopefully, a banger down low. Can they complement each other? What will Aaliyah add to the mix?
These are not idle "angels on the head of a pin" questions. I think that the team with the better answers cuts the nets down in Minneapolis.
She disappeared in San Antonio and they still cut down the nets. I think they'll adjust. She was never really a PG. Kinda by committee last season. When it comes to Stanford, I think folks are really underestimating how much their graduated PG did for them. She really drove everything.. I'm not sold on them being a viable #1 until they can prove they have a floor general.
We shall see but I remember an analysis leading up to the final 4 where it showed when Kianna was "on" they did well and their losses came when she wasn't "on" so I'm still looking to see how they adapt without her leadership. I hope you would admit that this is a challenge that say SC and UConn don't have for the coming year. All three are in great shape with returners but if you are trying to discern, this is a place to look at for me in thinking through a tight ranking 1-3.She disappeared in San Antonio and they still cut down the nets.
