Figured I'd open a thread for anyone checking out the new competition.

Tulsa's uniforms are awful. What's with the font they use for the player names?

Other questions for tonight...

Do we think Temple has a chance against Vandy? And how much do we want Rutgers to lose by?

I can't believe I am watching (part of) a game between Tulsa and Tulane.

How bad can it be? Both teams have about 300 yards in the 1st half and I just saw Lauren Gardner!

What channel?

I hate myself for asking.

Apparently one of Tulane's players is Bob Marley's grandson. Look for this to be mentioned by the play-by-play every time Tulane is on TV.

Damn, I remember when Bob Marley's son Rohan, played for Miami. He married the singer Lauren Hill if I'm not mistaken.

This conference ain't that horrible. Tulane even has history with Temple!

Claude "Monk" Simons Jr. · 1934
The first All-American to return to Tulane as a coach, "Monk" Simons Jr. led Tulane to a 10-1 record and a share of the Southeastern Conference title as a player in 1934, including a 20-14 victory over Temple in the first Sugar Bowl. Simons led Tulane in rushing, passing and scoring, but may have best made his mark as a kick returner. In the season finale against LSU, he returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown, and in the Sugar Bowl, he had an 85-yard kickoff return for a TD. Simons would return to Tulane as head coach from 1942-45. He was inducted into the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1975 and is also a member of the Louisiana, Greater New Orleans and Tulane sports halls.

Can still see the CUSA logo under the AAC logo on the field.

I know because I keep saying it - it'll be at least a few years before UConn can get out of this pathetic conference, and that's not guaranteed (heck we may have to wait a couple years just for a bowl berth) - but still, the sooner we can get out of here the better.

And Butch... I know you mean well but by now you must realize 99.99% of UConn and other fans just don't put the same value on historical trivia from 90 years ago that you do, and when you try to legitimize this CUSA 2.0 craphole it only irritates us further.

CBSSN's audio going out as Tulane drives to tie.

I LOLed at this:

@NoEscalators 5m
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, duck Tulsa and Tulane, duck you both forever. Sorry lost my train of thought.

EDIT - it was Tulsa going for the tie. I don't even.

A double OT thriller. Good opening showcase for the 'Murican.

More facetiousness. The AAC on their way to a P6 like Fox Sports shows and the big dollars that lie ahead. Temple got a lot of the breaks but they played tough and earned it.
