Where do they send the bogus data to make their athletic program not look like a tire fire?

I guarantee you this is common.

My favorite is how they rank schools by reputation.

someone got a hold of the FSU prez's questionnaire where he had Dartmouth in the 3rd tier and his former schools ranked above the Ivies.

Clemson was caught doing the same thing. After one of their institutional research people actually went to a conference and presented how they had restructured programs solely to obtain better ratings (e.g. if classes <= 25 was among the criteria, then they made all the sections 25 each), someone used an FOIA request and found that they had manipulated their peer ratings so that any school ranked close to them scored about the same as Bob's School of Welding and Clemson was rated in the Harvard, Stanford and MIT range.

The whole USNWR is a scam.

Try to find Reed College in their rankings, one of the most well respected liberal arts colleges in the nation. They are buried.

Can we disqualify them now. Sorry, you application to the NNNBE has been rejected. However, we might still schedule a game with you so all the Husky fans can party in NOLA.

This happened to George Washington this year also.

One day, a student at a place that gets smashed by USNWR for false info is going to face a class action suit from students who said the price they paid was artificially inflated by the fraudulent rankings.

Reed and a small number of predominantly liberal arts schools refuse to submit their information so they are not ranked by USNWR.

They used to be. I found them in the third tier once.
