Tuesday (3/12) games

The 6’7” Sara Hamson making it tough inside for the Zags. I believe she also plays on the volleyball team, but was out this year w/ a torn ACL. Too bad she couldn’t get Kennedy Eschenberg to play hoops too. She was a top-100 player

No, BYU is already considered to be in the tourney so no one is knocked out per say.:mad::mad:
Ha exactly. Not that we have anyone specific in mind.

If St Mary’s had been able to close the deal on Gonzaga yesterday, I believe that would’ve probably put the Gaels in the field and knocked out another bubble team.

Anyone know what the family emergency was for the Gonzaga coach and why two of the Gonzaga starters were not playing today?

BYU win isn’t a bid stealer but it may affect A&M hanging on to a host site.

Hope DePaul knocks off Marquette for the same reason even though I’m neutral on the teams.

Stockton and Townsend both suffered leg injuries during the game yesterday. No idea on the details of the family emergency w/ Coach Fortier.

Laura Stockton and Jill Townsend both were injured in their semifinal game vs. Saint Mary’s. Gonzaga is 0-3 vs. BYU on the season.

82-68 BYU final.
Congrats to the Cougars of Provo. They return to the NCAA tournament after missing it the past two years.

Kind of a bizarre resume for BYU:
Notable wins: Gonzaga x3, (n)TCU, St. Mary's
Notable losses: @Pepperdine, @Loyola-Marymount, @ Southern Utah
Simply having Gonzaga's number will be good enough for a #8 seed, I think. For sure a #9.

Gonzaga could easily drop to a #6 seed after this loss, especially with the two season-ending injuries that happened yesterday.

This will be Gonzaga's 10th NCAA tournament appearance in the past 12 years.

I think the committee will give A&M a pass on the Arkansas loss if they can be assured that Carter will be healthy and available for the tournament.

Well the attendance for the Summitt Final was 7,871. Very impressive for a mid-major final. I wonder how the crowd was split, not sure which school has the bigger fanbase.

Hey the Thunderbirds had more wins in both conference and OOC then Vandy, and BYU lost at SU not on their home court, like the Vols did.:cool::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Shoulda kept marquee

This game deserves it.

This is just a plain old toe to toe outright nonstop fight.

Marq +6 after 3

It's a really entertaining, back-and-forth game. Usually is between these two.

Wow. Hiedeman airballs a FT and then makes the 2nd to give Marquette a 2 point lead.

DePaul gets one last chance down 2 with 10 seconds to play.

What a classic. DePaul wins 74-73 on a career night by Stonewall and a great 3pt play at the end.

Chante Stonewall sinks a FT in the last second and Bruno's DePaul team wins.

WOW. What a finish!!! This is March Madness in effect!

DePaul trailed for all of the last 3 quarters -- until Chante Stonewall gets an "and-1" to give DePaul a 1-point lead with 5 seconds to play.

Hiedeman's runner at the buzzer glances off the rim.

What a game!

Marquette had to burn a time out just a play earlier on a busted inbound play and it ended up killing them

.

Zags are no better than 6 and could easily be 7 or 8.

Doug Bruno's voice during this Big East tournament:

It looks like two bids from the Big East, two from the West Coast; do both of the South Dakota teams get bids? I like seeing more teams from the non-P5 conferences.

Great finish. Few times I switched it off because Marq was up by 10 or so but BDs cane bsck

Yes, both South Dakota teams are in for sure.

Heideman looked crestfallen. She missed with a crucial airball when shooting 2 FTs when the previous penalty was awarded to Marquette. If she had made it the game would have gone to overtime.

Well, this was outright earned by DePaul on a magnificent performance by Stonewall

But

What a way to lose by Marq. The air ball FT was one thing, but after that just giving up a 2 still gives you 5+ for a last shot with a guaranteed OT, but no, she gets the and 1.

And credit to DePaul for forcing Marq to blow their last time out on the failed inbound. Ouch.

Well, ya play to tie at home and to win on the road. DePaul played for the tie and walked into the win.

I can’t imagine Marquette not carrying some baggage in their heads from this into the tournament. Just can’t.
