Bodycam footage was release a couple of weeks ago, he was absolutely hammered. Pretty insane that he's keeping his job IMO.
I totally agree with you, and I’m saddened by his decision. Thankful that no one got hurt, but he should seek help as immediately.Major mistake if all he gets is a slap on the wrist. Had a childhood friend killed by a drunk driver and I’m still open to forgiveness as hard as I find that, but not without the person facing meaningful accountability and seeking real help.
My first thought was he should be fired, but then I thought I'm inclined to give someone a 2nd (and last) chance. So if there was sincere contrition, significant counseling, community service, and an understanding that he's used all his mulligans, it could be ok to keep him. And actually a good teaching tool of the penalties and remorse that come with screwing up. He's incredibly lucky he didnt kill someone.Major mistake if all he gets is a slap on the wrist. I also thought his symptoms were unusual. He appeared more stupid and confused than drunk. He could not follow instructions at all. That seems like more than just being drunk. People that drunk tend to have trouble staying awake. He seemed wide awake but mentally stunted like he was over medicated (i.e., popping pills).
