Trouble at tOSU

Bodycam footage was release a couple of weeks ago, he was absolutely hammered. Pretty insane that he's keeping his job IMO.

Major mistake if all he gets is a slap on the wrist. Had a childhood friend killed by a drunk driver and I’m still open to forgiveness as hard as I find that, but not without the person facing meaningful accountability and seeking real help.

That seems like more than just being drunk. People that drunk tend to have trouble staying awake. He seemed wide awake but mentally stunted like he was over medicated (i.e., popping pills).

I totally agree with you, and I’m saddened by his decision. Thankful that no one got hurt, but he should seek help as immediately.

My first thought was he should be fired, but then I thought I'm inclined to give someone a 2nd (and last) chance. So if there was sincere contrition, significant counseling, community service, and an understanding that he's used all his mulligans, it could be ok to keep him. And actually a good teaching tool of the penalties and remorse that come with screwing up. He's incredibly lucky he didnt kill someone.

The only difference I have to anything said is that the surrounding circumstances are a factor. The school ought to be able to find out is this a one-off for his behavior or has he been lucky? Was there a circumstance that went awry that led to this?

This does not absolve someone of needing to have consequences, but can affect the degree of the consequences I would think.

I also thought his symptoms were unusual. He appeared more stupid and confused than drunk. He could not follow instructions at all.
