Trivia question - most blocks in high school

IIRC Griner has the most blocks in a single high school game (24 or 25 maybe?) so i'd have to guess her. even tho the hints indicate i'm probably wrong...

I'm sticking with the Univ. of Washington hunch given the different "Husky" clues. IIRC, they recently hired an assistant coach that was a really good player at either Arizona or Arizona St. Believe she holds the school's scoring record but I have no recollection of her name.

Interesting that you mention Griner. You are correct, she had 25 block in a game, on 11 November, 2008, a national record for high school. Which I know because I added it to her Wikipedia article yesterday. She also holds the single season record for high school,318, but her 794 career blocks is only good enough for third place for career blocks.

Incidentally, Eric, you are the Boneyarder most likely to have seen her play in high school.

Which I know because I added it to her Wikipedia article yesterday. She also holds the single season record for high school,318, but her 794 career blocks is only good enough for third place for career blocks.

Incidentally, Eric, you are the Boneyarder most likely to have seen her play in high school.

Then i would have to guess Charde Houston as she's the only player i've ever seen in HS for a former Husky. but i don't recall every seeing her block an overly large amount of shots. of course, i only caught about 5 or 6 of her games so...

I didn't say she was a former Husky. She has no connection to UConn, that I know of.

What about Allyssa DeHaan from a town in Michigan? She's 6'9" and I remember that she was very tall when in High School and is pretty far up there in NCAA blocks while at Michigan State. Also played volleyball for MSU. She looks like a model and at her size is probably having her shoes custom made, so $1k isn't outrageous.

Allyssa DeHaan is an excellent guess - she is #4 in career (HS) blocks, behind Griner.

Let's see, 5' 11" from the San Diego County area who blocked a pi**pot full of shots in high school. Methinks that skill must have carried over at least somewhat in college. Can't be Vanessa Nygaard because she played for Stanford. With that kind of athleticism, she must have played for a D1 upper program. If Helen interviewed her, chances are she plays (played) for the Liberty. Should have checked their roster before I posted this.

I had the pleasure of meeting her at lunch in Denver, but I didn't know this, until I just looked it up.

Hint - the obvious guesses will be wrong, and not even close. (The right answer is more than 300 more than Griner's total)

The record for a high school game is a Texan but not Griner, it was Jerri DiPasquale (sp). She did have 25 in a game.

The 6-foot-8 Griner's 25 snuffs eclipsed the national mark of 23 by Myeisha Jones of Oakland (Calif.) Claremont against Oakland Tech in 1997. Jones went on to play at Merritt College and UNLV.

I love the analysis (I love that people are engaging, and not just responding, enough already, tell us). Never played for the liberty, though, and only 27 blocks in college, so if you are filtering on prolific shot-blockers in college or pros, that will be a dead-end. But San Diego County is right.

Griner had 25 blocks on 11 November, 2008. However, I was worried that the source I was using might not be complete. The record for consecutive free throws did not include EDD. I got an email from the association a few minutes ago, telling me that they rely on schools sending in data, so it may not include all schools.

However, I did see an alternative site claiming the career block record, so I think this one may be OK.
