You know this is making me think. I wonder if they will name the court after him or something like that. The reason I say that is, why is it at Gampel? I have a feeling something maybe in the works behind the scene.

It has to include Geno on the court. I like the ideas people have been saying of hall of game court and auriemma ave and calhoun court at the intersection near co-op

Yikes. I'd love to go, but not at that price. Why so expensive?

Its called, "Heart of a Champion..."

So I'm betting there is a huge charitable component that links this event to the Pat and Jim Cardiology Center

Manuel acknowledges UConn will have less money in the American from TV revenue, and will have to make that up somehow -- through ticket prices, corporate sponsorships or other revenue generators.

Consider this a "revenue generator".

I'm kidding. Just seemed to fit. It must be for charity though.

Higher prices for an inferior product is not a good plan, IMHO.

The article said that they expect a sellout. At that price I highly doubt it, especially when we can't get everybody there games. Now if they are also going to also have an Alumni game instead of at Mohegan, then it would be a better price point. Also, what about the students. What student is paying 125.00 a ticket?

Hmmn that new painting scheme did leave room for a big Calhoun, didn't it?

Regardless, I've been stumping for this solution for years:

1. Rename Hillside Road in front of Gampel "Calhoun's Way"
2. Name the court at Gampel "Hall of Fame Court"
3. When Auriema retires rename Stadium Road "Auriema Avenue"

Mandatory camera shot of the two street signs for every home game broadcast "We're here on the Hall of Fame Court in Gampel Pavilion located at the corner of Calhoun's Way and Auriema Avenue."

The new basketball practice center would eventually be on Auriema Avenue but the main drag though that part of campus is Calhoun's Way. Everybody wins.

Students are not the target audience here... it will be an absolute sellout.

@UConnMBB: Tribute To Jim Calhoun on 9/22 will benefit the Calhoun Cardiology Center @uconnhealth & #UConn Basketball Development Center

That's a pretty good chunk of change for both if it's a sellout.

One caveat is not knowing how the seating configuration will be... didn't think full pavilion would be used but if they use BB config - sell out may be a challenge.

I'm guessing it'll be tables of eight or ten on the court. Not filling the seating bowl.

Bingo - we have a winner...

"Heart Of a Champion: A Tribute To Jim Calhoun" will feature a dinner held on the floor of Gampel Pavilion, a pre-meal reception with a speaking program following dinner"

If they're going to formally honor Calhoun with a court naming/street naming/etc., that would likely occur at a game, not a non-descript event before the season.
