Tyler Phommachanch, our star QB commit for the class of 2021, has an older brother red shirt freshman backing up Trevor Lawrence. Looks like he is third on the chart per the link to last weeks roster. That said, depending on how practice goes and how the game goes this weekend maybe we get to see him get some meaningful game action.

Lawrence will be out for at least 10 days.

Next three Clemson Games:
BC visits 10/31
Clemson visits ND 11/7
bye week
Clemson visits Florida St 11/21

Didn’t he just have surgery on his non throwing hand? I believe he was listed as week to week

I hadn't been paying attention to the Clemson back up QB situation.... What was to be a boring BC game just got interesting.

Uiagalelei is top-ranked Clemson's presumed starter for Saturday's game against Boston College, and the Tigers are in good hands. Uiagalelei was the No. 43 recruit in ESPN's 2020 rankings, and the No. 1 pocket passer in the country. He enrolled at Clemson in January and earned the No. 2 spot on the depth chart in fall camp. So far this season, he has completed 12 of 19 passes for 102 yards and scored twice on the ground, largely in mop-up duty during blowout victories. He missed Clemson's 73-7 win over Georgia Tech two weeks ago with shoulder soreness, however, but returned to action last week against Syracuse. As a junior at St. John Bosco High in Bellflower, California, Uiagalelei was named the USA Today National Player of the Year, and he threw for more than 10,000 yards in his high school career.

Tyler Phommachanh is noted as a pocket passer but his completions are not for long yardage and he runs a bit. Sounds more of a running passer which I think is more effective in college than pocket passers.

The risk you run as a recruit going to a Clemson, Alabama, or Ohio State. They will recruit over you in a second. Tyler Phommachanh will have a decision to make after this season in terms of staying or search for greener pastures.

Exactly it’s gotta be hard on the kids but next man up picks up the rifle and keeps it moving when one falls. Crazy when you qb 1 2 and 3 are all too of they’re class top of they’re state and 5 stars

Such a waste for so many kids with stars in their eyes.

What's better: go to a "name" school, sit around backing up other quarterbacks for five years, and brag to all your co-workers at whatever mundane job you land after college about how you were recruited to Clemson, OR play a lot at a school with an explosive offensive scheme like UConn and have a chance to become the next Carson Wentz or Matt Peart?

I wouldn't really call UCONN and explosive offense. We are very much a run heavy Play action pass offense which is never explosive.
