Alabama announces Trevor Lacey will transfer with two seasons remaining.

I know we were in his final 2 or 3 out of high school.

Not sure if we will have any interest again, my guess is no, but who knows.

You would think we would pass but who knows.... Lackey could be really good if he got in a little better shape. Don't get why he would transfer.

This is kind of a surprise. He's from Alabama and was getting a lot of playing time in his first two seasons. I wouldn't mind if UConn picked up Lacey. He's a good all around player and was a winner in HS. The question would be if Ollie wants to use another scholarship on a transfer or not. I would guess he wouldn't.

take them all. he'll be in his 4th year in 2014. teams that win it all generally have 3-4 year players.
plus, our practice squad will be fierce next year. it will only help push calhoun to greatness.

I didn't watch Bama alot because SEC ball was pretty bad, but when I did it seemed like Lacey was always on the floor, surprised at this since its not an Angel Hernandez situation where he out in the middle of nowhere and not being coached by the guy who recruited him.

This actually would make sense. With Shabazz, Giffey, Olander and Wolf definitely gone after next season, and potentially Daniels and Boatright if they leave early, we're left with only 7 players (Calhoun, Nolan, Tolksdorf, Purvis, Facey, Samuel and Brimah) for the 2014-2015 season. Ollie has to fill some scholarships.

If both Bazz and Wolf are back UConn doesn't have any scholarships.

I think we pass. His stats last year. 31 MPG, second on team. 11 PPG, shot only 39% but 37 from3, 72% fromFT line. 4 RB's, 3 assist. Would rather get a new recruit for 14.

unless UCONN is falling out with other guard recruits for the 2014 season I see no reason to add another transfer at this time.

I'm pretty sure, he wouldn't count against our schollys during his transfer sit out year.

Of course he would.

Yeah after thinking that statement over again, I think I misspoke. Don't know why, maybe more hoping we could stash him away on our roster while he sits his year and then we have all of those available schollys.

if they want the player they'll find a way. maybe take wolf off scholarship as punishment.

He wouldn't be eligible until 2014. As the poster stated, we'll have plenty of openings. I think we were his #2 choice so there's room for optimism. I'm all for adding a guy with his talent.

Yes, but he would still be at the school and therefore be on scholarship.

*** Don't be shocked if UConn shows interest in Alabama's Trevor Lacey, a 6-foot-3 guard who led the Crimson Tide in assists and 3-pointers this past season but announced today that he'll be transferring after two years with the team

when will we ever get another big man transfer?
When you get it right the first time in the form of Ed Nelson, no need to go to the well again.

When I first saw this post I thought it was about the running back Lacey from Bama the soon to be NFL rb.
