There are more variables at play - if he had the ball in his hands when he went up and still had it in his hands when he came down then that would be the classic "up and down" and a travel. And I believe he was called for traveling before the second hop. Not sure if u read the entire thread bit it's gone a little deeper and more detailed than a simple up and down call.
