UCONN stands to gain from the shutdown of this season. No program needs time like this one to get young guys physically ready to play. If there is a scenario to scrimmage one or two local teams this fall (UMASS?) that would be great, but who knows.

........and no, I’m not happy the season has been cancelled, although I believe it was the right thing to do.

The upside to this year's cancellation is Omar Fortt, Jay Rose, Kevin Mensah and Ryan Van Demark should be on next year's team along with a few others who would have otherwise exhausted their eligibility. Better that these players get another year than play their last season in empty stadiums.

Also talented juniors like Travis Jones, Uguak and Kevon Jones get to redshirt which should enhance their prospects of playing on the next level.

Patience and hard work will be rewarded.

Omar Fortt is one strong dude! Glad he and I are on good terms, although I have never communicated with him. Ha.

Omar is working hard and becoming a beast. He realized his number one weakness has always been his...weakness. While his football instincts and pursuit to the ball have been excellent, a failure to wrap up the ball carrier was hurting his performance. That won’t happen in 2021. (And he’s not the only one).
Compare his new and improved upper arms with this pic from only a year ago.

Old unis. Two years ago? Point still valid though.
