This "THE ATHLETIC" article from this morning, Friday (4/12) by Chantel Jennings
describes Raegan Beers as having " a Mackenzie Holmes-like" game. FYI Ms. Beers is
from Valor Christian H.S in Highlands Ranch, Colorado where she played against
Lauren Betts from Grandview H.S. for the state championship. Raegan stats as
a freshman at OSU includes a 13.3 ppg average and 8.9 Rebounds a game followed
by her being the #1 PPG player at OSU as a Sophomore, 17.5 ppg, and the #1 rebounder for
the Beavers at 10.3 rebounds per game with 66 % Field Goal Percentage. She was an
ALL PAC12 team selection this past year. Go to the OSU women's Basketball webpage
and click on her Bio to see the LONG list of her achievements... Quite impressive.

I’d love to see us get someone who’s averaged 9 rpg over her first 2 years!

.-.
Kaitlyn Chen is ranked 3rd in the above article and Lucy Olsen is ranked 8th!
I'd love to get Kaitlyn Chen and Raegan Beers through the portal for next season!
Has there been any “word” about Geno targeting any of these transfers?

amishboy- - -Carla Berube, Kaitlyn's coach at Princeton has talked to Geno about her!
And Beers just went into the portal yesterday, but has a "don't contact" so she may have ideas of her own!
With Aaliyah Edwards declaring for the WNBA draft Raegan may be interested in UConn?

Not getting to ahead of myself here, but half the Uconn roster (Paige, KK, Caroline, Ayanna, Ash, Morgan, Allie and Coach Cardoza) all started following Beers on IG yesterday after she announced. Just sayin...

Am not sure if this is real since I haven't seen anywhere else, but:

Just saw on "X" (Twitter) that Paige, KK, Shade, Caroline, Morgan Valley, Cheli, Ziebell, Ayanna and Coach Cardoza (sp?) are all now Following Beers on Instagram. Big things coming for UConn?.

Make you wonder if we are the reason she has "Do not Contact"

Maybe someone who does Instagram (i'm an old man) can confirm this.

(No mention of Azzi or Jana following her).

Oops, I missed your mention too. Am sorry about that

The big question for me is whether Beers is following any of them back, or for that matter if other teams are following/followed by her.

The article describes her as posting 2 good years at Arkansas. So if Geno expressed interest, might she be interested in returning to UConn?

Wish the best for her but I think she's ranked way too high. 36% from the field. She brings plus rebounding from her position but I think I would much rather have Gardiner or Barker. Ironically she plays more like a big wing / stretch 4 now even though she's listed as a guard still. Shot lots of 3s but also posted up quite a bit.

No way Geno is interested.
If anything the Boneyard should have learned about Geno, in 40 years, is: Never say never. Wont take transfers, won play,Tenn ---Etc--Geno is human, Geno does what is best for his program. he changes his mind.

.-.
I watched quite a few of OS games and they had a team that was good and young Feel bad for coach Rueck ..he's a pretty good coach and seems like a nice guy
Would love for Uconn to get Beers..best post player in the nation next year...Led the country in FG% at 66%..man what a team they would have with her

No GRACE VANSLOOTEN, SO., F: FROM OREGON ?

Poffenbarger is an interesting case, against coach's prior comments around (words to the effect) none of the players who've left his program have amounted to much.

Agree or disagree, The Athletic (national media outlet covering world sports, subscription only, well respected) has her 5th, ahead of some higher profile athletes (Olsen, Van Lith), well argued. 30th ranked, lowest in a UConn recruit class that included Azzi Fudd (1), Caroline Ducharme (5) and Amari DeBerry (15).

Coach doesn't seem like the sort to welcome players back who make the decision to leave, but who knows? 6'2" sophomore guards who rebound like a 4 or 5 (11.2 rpg) and is improving shooting 3's ("23 percent last season to 33 percent this season") seems a great get for any team.

3 of the top 6 from 1 school. That is so sad for OSU.
Well they got stuck in no man's land in the last re-conferencing. Bound to happen.

.-.
Just a general observation. Many have commented on the desirability of obtaining one-year only transfers. Looking at the roster, there is no junior class; Ice and Ayanna are for all intents and purposes sophomores. That could be devastating for recruiting the 26-27 class. It might be prudent to get some juniors on the roster, particularly since there are so many great players from that class currently in the portal.

How many time transfers Saylor Poffenbarger has so far? I hope this time it is her decision.
Yes, certainly requires any coach wanting to bring in someone from the portal to add to their roster to look very closely and with a critical eye on the motivating factors for someone who is transferring. Some may be seeking something that they won't find anywhere which won't be a fit for the team, the coach or the player. For others it is the right thing at the right time. We all saw the success of Dorka and Lou coming to UConn. It was a perfect fit for both. Hoping the best for Saylor and that she finally may find whatever it is she is seeking.

The article describes her as posting 2 good years at Arkansas. So if Geno expressed interest, might she be interested in returning to UConn?
Good grief! Poffenbarger is transferring again? Bad look...
