That may even be an optimistic take. That's a bubble team.
Then how do you have an opinion about his defense???Pettiford's defense was pretty horrendous this year. Might be a team thing though; I haven't watched Auburn at all.
great takeFWIW that lineup has.
A potential All American at PG
A McDonald All American returning for a sophomore year expecting to go lottery
A rising 3 and D senior to match our PGs defensive ability
A former top 50 recruit as a senior who helped us win a lot of big games as a starter this year
A McD AA Center
A top 40 guard as a backup
A senior guard who averaged 14 PPG
A top 25 wing off the bench
Then whatever transfers is needed to fill out the bench. I’m not sure how that’s not enough talent to win with or how that’s anywhere close to a bubble team. That sounds overdramatic.
Field may also be nearly as strong as it is this year given the strength of this years freshman class vs next.great take
He wont. If he is my kid, he would come back. But I understand the other argument: leaving would put him one year closer to the second contract. The problem with many of our stars is that they never develop the game to really 'cash in' on that second contract.I don't know. If Mullins came back stronger, image what he could do as a sophomore? But otherwise I agree if Ross and Stew are both starting, then we have not gotten better at those spots.
Check back on April 7.Just logging into the Yard to check who has entered the portal, ah well nevertheless.

yup....Guys should be taking shots they have a high probability of making...for Solo this year it's the 2 pt shot 10ft from the hoop. Braylon should be taking more of those shots to start off too IMO.We're #104 in the country in 3pt%. Would like to see more volume shooting the rock from Silas/Ross than Solo. Silly to have your highest volume shooter be a guy hitting 30% from deep.
I dont know brother. Stewart has not shown himself to be a full-time starter for DePaul, much less UConn. It is not good to have blind faith for anyone other than God. Its been 3.5 years!!!We went undefeated in OOC with Stew starting the whole time. What are yall talking about man?
When will this board stop doubting our own players because of a new shiny transfer? This board does this every year.

Machot looks impressive. I think he would compliment Reibe well. He plays above the rims and is very mobile. He looks for open space on the offensive glass. He could bring the change of pace like SJ did with Clingan.
I'm just saying that if Mullins did come back, wouldn't that be a good thing for UConn? Would you be excited to see what he could do with more muscle on his frame? He predict he would have a better sophomore year than Jordan Hawkins. Not as good as Steph Castle would have had, but still pretty good. We will probably never get to find out.He wont. If he is my kid, he would come back. But I understand the other argument: leaving would put him one year closer to the second contract. Well, in fairness, it’s the same person that makes most of these ridiculous posts and he does it so much that it seems like it’s the whole board.Alex was a starter and incredibly key piece on back to back national championship teams. His legacy is 100% not dependent on this tournament. This fan base has some truly wild and spoiled takes sometimes.
Well saidAlex Karaban is a replacement-level player. That's some take.
People love to say over the top stuff to make a point. We call those people imbeciles.
Maybe you are just being hyperbolic for effect, otherwise that is pretty pessimistic. If you mean Demary, Ball, Ross, Stewart and Reibe all starting wouldn't average 60 as starters I would agree. Increasing their current production to account for starter minutes, their scoring would be Demary (12), Ball (14), Ross (8), Stewart (8), Reibe (13). That's 55 ppg. But assuming Furphy, Landrew, County and other portal additions would add 15 ppg off the bench, I could see that team averaging 70. Of course that is still a drop off from this year's 77. So I am not suggesting those 5 starting would be good enough. Just saying it is are baseline worst case scenario. That 5 wouldn't average 60 points a game
You see Stew as a lottery pick next year??? Hawkins went 14th. I'd be surprised if Stew is drafted at all so it doesn't seem like a great comp.I think moving from Karaban to Stew will be a lot like moving from Tyrese Martin to Jordan Hawkins.

Don't know about that. It's definitely a step back from this year, but at least bubble team doesn't seem unreasonable. That's 4 seniors and a sophomore starting and a couple good freshmen off the bench, plus Furphy. And obviously we are getting at least more bench help in the portal. Hopefully a couple of starters but even if no starters in the portal I still say we could be top 3 in the Big East with those starters. I am hoping for a little improvement over the summer from Ross based on his performance lately. I see Reibe improving as well.thats not a tournament team
So 60 was hyperbole? I could see that team averaging 75 with a decent bench. Not saying that is what I am hoping for, just that it is not s horrible as you think. Cheer up!A team averaging 70 would be a disaster for this program. That would be the bottom quarter of all of D1 ball. We already play one of the slowest games in America.
There's a pretty strong argument for Mullins returning. This is arguably the strongest draft class in a decade. Braylon could come back for a big NIL deal then get drafted in the Top 5 next year instead of the Top 15 this year. he really can't go wrong in the NIL eraI'm just saying that if Mullins did come back, wouldn't that be a good thing for UConn? in this year’s draft class 2025 the 15th pick had a guarantee three years of 12 1/2 millionThere's a pretty strong argument for Mullins returning. Stewart started when we lost to Arizona, was benched in the 2nd half of the Kansas game and was 5-15 from the field with 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the wins over Illinois, BYU and Florida. Oddly enough one of his best games was actually in the loss to Arizona. (4-8, 3 boards, 2 steals, 1 block and 0 TOs).We went undefeated in OOC with Stew starting the whole time. What are yall talking about man?

Yeah especially bc we anticipated he'd become the 3rd option but would be more efficient.Alex shot 48/40/82. Your irrational disdain for Karaban is so bizarre.
Is it conceivable that Stewart could develop into Alex Karaban freshman year type production next year? (9.3 ppg/4.5 rpg) I'd take that. Of course if we get someone in the portal who can outperform those numbers, even better. Stew off the bench is probably best option.Stewart started when we lost to Arizona, was benched in the 2nd half of the Kansas game and was 5-15 from the field with 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the wins over Illinois, BYU and Florida. This junior class is a strange one bc we saw Solo makes big leaps last year but has regressed this year. Ross has started to blossom in the 2nd half of his junior year and Stewart's has done what in his three years? Started on a team that won games despite his lack of production.
Everyone knows AJ"s strength was his defense not his offense. Defense is harder to quantify in the stat lines (other than rebounds) but just as important as offense.Bwahaha….that is hilarious. Add Andre for who??
Now AJ was Magic Johnson?? His last year he averaged 6 points and 4 assists. If you think he was the “creator” on offense for that team, you are beyond clueless. He was a key piece that fit THAT team. He is not close to what THIS team, or more importantly since it’s actually relevant, to next years team, which is what this discussion is centered around.
Also, he shot 43/28/65….
I think Dan Hurley would disagree with you Ruff. I personally think that this is the most lamentable, ungrateful and singularly myopic take you have ever shared on this forum. All Alex needs to hear from us is one word: THANKS!!! And yes, with three exclamation marks too. There are hundreds of examples to prove that you can be an indispensable player and yet, not be the best player, on a title team. Take the 80's Celtics, the best players was Bird. McHale was an Allstar too. But without Dennis Johnson and The Chief, do they win all those titles? Was DJ better than twenty of his contemporaries? probably not. But for that team, he was the glue. Lyman DePriest was never the best player on any our UConn teams, yet we would not trade him for anyone, would we? Shoot, remember a guy by the name of Cam Spencer? Was he better than Castle? Clingan? Newton? Look, I never met you in person, but this take was a bit trolly for my taste, particularly as we are about to start the tournament. Bad energy from you.As a good kid and great ambassador of the program, can't say enough about him. As a stand alone basketball player that drives championships, he's not that. He's acted as a 5th man in some significant games for this team. It's easy to put the blinders on for exceptional humans, which he is.
He could have been replaced by 100 different players in those two years and those teams wouldn't have missed a beat.
