Transfer Portal

He cant get NIL dude, sorry that fact breaks your polyanna bit.

He needs a skating coach. Everyone knows this. Maybe Minnesota, with high end facilities, will invest in that. UConn won’t.
It’s up to Matt Wood or Nashville to get him a skating coach in the off season not UConn. I am sure he is doing just that back home in BC this off season.

Portal officially opens today and runs to May 13

Already 90 entries

Seems like the staff will go into the portal for at least 1 defenseman.

My wish would be Will Felicio, who transferred out of Michigan, but might be headed to BC.

I can't imagine we can compete NIL-wise with BC for a transfer head to head. Hockey is their bread and butter. I'd love to be wrong.
McMahon said a year ago that top NHL prospects were getting 100K in college hockey - a year later what does that mean for a top transfer? who knows. 50K at least? Maybe 100K?

BU just got Sacha Boisvert, a transfer from North Dakota, from the portal. It is rumored multiple schools were bidding at least $125k for him.

Elite talent costs 6 figures

Goaltender Thomas Heaney has entered the portal
Guys like Heaney, Pascucci and Swift are looking for the opportunity to play hockey. I expect to see them land at AHA schools or maybe better D3s. I know a few NESCAC players started out at bigger programs earlier in their careers. Pascucci going to Canisius is a good example. He will likely see time there. Pretty tough to get ice time at UConn.

Not at all to trash a guy on his way out but he was far from the player i expected. I guess you could say he was young but so were many of the freshman on the team who had a much bigger impact.

Boisvert did not get 6 figures from BU. Not close.

Most of the hockey NIL numbers being thrown out - like the other sports - are wildly overinflated.

Ryan Leonard got below six figures this past year at BC.

RPI is a great engineering school. I’m doubting he transferred for academic reasons. Suspect he wants more PT, which is likely in a second tier ECAC program vs top tier Hockey East.

I do not blame him. As Sergeant Joe Friday said, “Just the facts, ma’am”.

True this. I spoke to a Northeastern player's parents at Matthews Arena this year. Hockey parents love to share inside information, for some reason, very gossipy. Anyways the mom told me "A lot of these guys make way too much money! They already got the school and everything, and then they give them money!" I asked how much and she said she thinks the highest paid player is getting around $45,000.

Go Curry! I see a few #3 backups who transfer to D3 programs. The usually look pretty good. Hope it works out for Heaney.
Heaney’s stats from this year (25-26) @ Curry:
