Transfer is the Newest Trend

Transferring out of a program is sadly becoming a trend. A few more transfers, and you may have a pandemic. Athletes are transferring across the country at an alarming rate. It used to be rare for an athlete to transfer. Not any more. The stigmatism and questions that use to accompany a transfer no longer exist.

Transfers are no longer breaking news, unless a starter at a top five school leaves. The athlete knows another program will pick them up as soon as the ink is dry on their release forms. NONE of the recent female basketball players had any problems finding another program to enroll in. We're still waiting to see where Stephanie Mavunga decides to go. Her choices are many. Given her resume, unless they are flat out of scholarships, I don't think any D-1 coach would deny her request to join his / her program.

it has to be a tough decision to transfer... knowing you must sit out a year (normally). How about transferring within a conference and sitting out 2yrs, how often is that done.

About as often as Halley's Comet comes around : Orbital period: 75 years - predicted next perihelion (the point nearest the sun in the orbit of a planet, comet, or man made satellite) : July 28, 2061.
