Metal detectors slow it up a lot once you reach the gate.

From Forbes St. to the Aircraft Club on Silver Lane was never more than 5 minutes. Now it is 30 minutes. They went from four lanes to two plus a turning lane which means that all traffic is compressed to one lane periodically. MAJOR FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The cops at the AC said it was stadium management that came up with the plan. They agreed that it was a major screwup.

The irony here is just amazing. They wonder why people are not coming. They take surveys and tinker with the fan experience. Different music, different annoying young woman grabbing the mic during endless timeouts, different menus at the concessions. It's like having an orchestra play on the deck of the Titanic. Start winning, and don't screw up traffic. That is my advice. The turnstyle will take care of itself if you do those two things.

Almost 30 minutes from Spencer street exit to parked in blue lot. I think our previous high was 15 minutes at the Michigan game (which had 45k fans).

I wasnt able to take a right onto silver lane from blue lot after the game, but yet they had traffic going straight for 15 minutes straight while i was waiting to turn left into the stadium. Makes perfect sense.

Silver Lane used to be two lanes both ways. They made it one lane with a middle turn lane since last season. Apparently with no thought about game day traffic.

Chief was unable to attend the game. However, as long as the political retreads from CRDA pretend to run things from their No Show jobs, this type of incompetence will continue to happen.

Weeknight game. Other traffic that isn't there on Saturday mornings, incl Pratt shift change.

The no right turn onto Silver lane after the game was the capper that the people running traffic were lost. On the way in from 384 with one lane you are mixing game traffic with local traffic that wants to go straight/west on Silver Lane at the East Gate. This will be a mess all year.

How does this happen? Only in an environment where people can continue to plan poorly and screw up without any personal consequence. What are these CRDA people doing in their no show jobs if they don’t stop this poorly thought out change before implementation or at least plan for it better.

This was not an issue of too many non-game cars on the road. It was 2 lanes shrinking to 1 as you get to the stadium and no one directing traffic at the entrance to the parking lot. It would have taken over an hour to get into the stadium last night if UConn had the crowds it used to get. One of the benefits of the Rent is that it was always easy in and easy out. No more.

It was as if the school was trying to keep people from going to the game.

A fundamental problem at The Rent is due to the political beast that is CRDA. The parking and other jobs are treated as non important community service job program type jobs. The beer booths are manned or womaned by non profits agency volunteers on a rotating basis.
In short, no one knows what they are doing and there’s a general lack of professionalism and competency - that we as customers and taxpayers are expected to accept as routine and ok.
Actually, it’s not ok and the vibe around the event is amateur and reflects very poorly on the UConn brand. Same goes for XL.

This all needs to change. You go to MSG, MetLife, TD Bank and Gillette - they all professionally handle bigger crowds with appropriately trained and experienced staff. It’s a whole different customer experience. The same holds true for some major college games Chief has been invited to around the country.
We shouldn’t accept this as ok just because it’s CT Routine.

AD blames fans for not buying tickets.
Coach plays a boring style of football.
Coach is highly secretive with the media.
AD speaks condescendingly to students and doesn't even mention the tickets are free.
Concessions prices in the stadium are higher than some NFL teams'.
Parking situation at the stadium made actively worse every year.

If you were trying to kill a program, isn't this how you'd do it?

To be fair, Georgia and every other major SEC stadium I’ve been to has their concessions staffed by local non-profits/volunteers.

The difference is that it’s cute and charming in these big, historic stadiums smack dab in the middle of campus.

There’s nothing cute and charming about being smack dab on the end of a runway at an abandoned airport in East Hartford. Your just stuck in a long line in the middle of a post-industrial wasteland.

(Storrs is cute and charming FYI)
