Drawing a lesson from those Taurasi championships, I do not think the odds favor us for a championship next year, regardless of what height we do or do not bring in. The odds may or may not favor us in the first year of the Bueckers/Muhl era. After that, I very much like our odds, once again regardless of what height we do or do not bring in.

The ability to make your teammates better, to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts, is the best attribute to have on a basketball court and we will have two such players who can do that. Should be VERY exciting.

More guard depth does not automatically give you the ability to press more or even pick up full court. What gives you the ability to press more and play full court defense are skilled defensive players capable of speeding up the other team and an eraser on the back end that can effectively cover your mistakes. This 2019-20 UCONN roster has neither. ONO could potentially grow into that eraser but up front specifically at the G/Wing position the skill set to disrupt and speed the other team up is not present and UCONN would be ill advised to try this. Geno is not ill advised.
Even in a token press over the last few years it was Gabby and Napheesa that was at the top attempting to disrupt.
