Granted it went OT, but Houston hadn't even scored 90 pts all year.

May be the worst timeout I've ever seen. Good lord.
And if you're going to call that time out, draw up a play that isn't just a contested off-balance 3 you can get whenever. Just crazy bad.

I think in the vast majority of cases I prefer a three over two when down four with 20 sec left (unless they literally let you walk into a layup which does sometimes happen).

But with all their foul outs and guys shooting free throws completely cold, and a higher chance to get a steal and better odds to win in OT...

Well, during that TO Williams probably had to shout down the cries of "WHAT THE HELL, COACH?!?!"

The Sweet Sixteen.

Only seed below a 6 seed is NC State. This is a super chalk bracket overall. Clemson is the only other seed below a five seed (a toss up with a four usually in the round of 32), and they are a 6 seed. 10 of the top 12 seeds made it through (B12 Baylor and SEC UK missed out). Then two 4s, two fives, a six and an 11. The two fours that didn't make it were B12 KU and SEC Auburn. I see a theme.

Below are the regular season records between these 16 teams. I am pretty sure I got them all.

ACC:

UNC (6-3) - Tennessee (1-0), UConn (0-1), NC State (2-1), Duke (2-0), Clemson (1-1)

NC State (3-4) - Tennessee (0-1), UNC (1-2), Duke (1-1), Clemson (1-0)

Duke (2-4) - Arizona (0-1), UNC (0-2), NC State (1-1), Clemson (1-0)

Clemson (1-3) - UNC (1-1), Duke (0-1), NC State (0-1)

BE:
UConn (6-1) - UNC (1-0), Gonzaga (1-0), Marquette (3-0), Creighton (1-1)

Creighton (3-2) - Bama (1-0), Marquette (1-1), UConn (1-1)

Marquette (2 -5) - Illinois (1-0), Purdue (0-1), Creighton (1-1), UConn (0-3)

B10:
Purdue (7-0) - Gonzaga (1-0), Marquette (1-0), Zona (1-0), Tennessee (1-0), Bama (1-0), Illinois (2-0)

Illinois (0-4) - Tennessee (0-1), Marquette (0-1), Purdue (0-2)

B12:
Iowa State - Houston (2-1)

Houston - Houston (1-2)

SEC:
Tennessee (4-2) - UNC (0-1), Illinois (1-0), Purdue (0-1), NC State (1-0), Alabama (2-0)

Bama (0-5) - Creighton (0-1), Purdue (0-1), Zona (0-1), Tennessee (0-2)

MC:
Gonzaga (0-3)- Purdue (0-1), UConn (0-1), SDSU (0-1)

MW:
SDSU - Gonzaga (1-0)

PAC
Zona (2-1) - Purdue (0-1), Duke (1-0), Bama (1-0)

Houston and ISU stand out for not playing any other Sweet Sixteen team OOC and only playing each other in conference of teams remaining. Perhaps the B12 was a tad overrated this year when their best two teams didn't play anyone OOC. Considering how chalk this went I think this is important to an extent.

In the SEC, Tennessee did well and at least Bama tried to play good teams though they couldn't win.

SDSU only played the Zags.

Clemson didn't play anyone OOC either and were fairly bad against the other ACC teams.

Purdue is an impressive 7-0 against 6 Sweet Sixteen teams. UNC is 6-3 against 5 Sweet Sixteen teams. Tennessee is 4-2 against 5 teams. NC State as an 11 seed is a surprising 3-4 which is the fifth most wins against the remaining teams, tied with Creighton (3-2).

Ohh and UConn is 6-1 against 4 teams.

EDIT:

Maui this year was amazing with MU, Purdue, Tennessee and Gonzaga all making the sweet sixteen months later. Not to mention a decent KU squad (when healthy). Too bad the other two D1 teams stunk.

Purdue being 7-0 against this field is ridiculous.

Purdue is better than last year regardless of whether we like them or not. But any of these teams can have an off night. At our best and their best we may have a slight edge. But we have to make our shots. That inconsistency is the weakness all these talking heads seem unfamiliar with.

It's even more impressive they did it against 6 of the teams. UConn's win total is a bit skewed by being 3-0 against MU. Give Purdue their props for their year, they have been been very good all season.
And 6 of the games were away or neutral (well 1 of those was in Indy, but still).

I'm sure Brad Brownell is gonna have a big smile postgame considering his comments during the season about the Big12
Big 12 has always kind of been bulls^^^. It's a bunch of solid basketball schools and Kansas. They game the system and their similar to the Big East where their style of play/reffing doesn't translate to the tournament unless you're super talented.

It is impressive. The BE three only having one loss (Purdue over Marquette) outside of the games against each other, where someone has to lose, is pretty solid.

Seriously. If I had a choice, give me Yale. We'd beat them by 40.

I think we're going to beat San Diego State, probably by 15+, but they're a good team and can beat us.

We'd beat Yale 10 times out of 10. We'd beat San Diego State probably about 8 times out of 10. Yale is fun and all and rooting for Ivy is great, but let's pump the brakes. San Diego St is off a National Title appearance with the same seed they had last year, and a player who is an All American. Yale needed a Brown choke job to even make an appearance in the tourney. UConn wouldve decimated Yale worse than San Diego St did.

A big edge

You think so? They look awesome to me. Gun to my head and trying to eliminate my UConn bias I'd probably rank them first of the teams remaining in the field. Granted we're talking about 1 vs. 2 but they've looked terrifying. I thought Utah State was going to give them a game.
