i agree - seems pretty dopey to me. apparently the coach for the other team pushed for the technical since the uniforms weren't "white"

Perhaps their uniforms were white - just thrown in the wash with a Stanford sweatshirt?

No problem with the officials for inforcing it once it was raised - the coach and AD of the opponents just suffered a PR disaster. The game probably didn't swing on this given the final score, and ... The publicity for this team and for their charity is probably great - would not be surprised if someone steps up and matches their contribution in the school's name.

A rule is a rule no matter how petty, I guess. The one that really hurt was the Mass. high school footballer who raised his arm in the air as he crossed the goal line with time running out and was whistled for "celebrating". It cost his team the state championship.

- Wow - couldn't make stuff like this up, right?
- As I have told frustrated daughters on an occasion, some of the most memorable, and thereby most important lessons we learn as students & athletes about life are those from professional educators (leaders, parents,… ) … by illustrating how readily we can look dumb (only occasionally hopefully) by acting dumb.
- Perhaps a fine guy, he now seems well on his way toward illustrating to colleagues and now even his community (that’s some article!), how a new reputation can last a long time, when you act stupidly for just a minute. Hopefully he’s learned/re-learned that just as well, if not as quickly, as I’m sure these student-athletes s readily grasped.

-Rules are rules.
-And our schools are our schools.
-Schools never stop teaching. Whether they like it or not.
-Sometimes teaching wisdom in applying rules. And then we have here, …
- Sometimes teaching inanity in applying rules. Even after thinking it over. At length. During halftime.
- It’s clear, the Burke student knew this difference. ‘ “We were just supporting a charity and I think that it was dumb that we had to get a technical foul for it," Burke junior Michaela Brown told KPTM” ‘
- Oh yeah, that judgment thing. Good for her. Good – and thanks for vtcwbuff highlighting this as “crap,” indeed. Particularly good – and thanks for Mr. Cameron Smithwho chose not to just let this slide, without doing his best to highlight it to the community. Some people think, when you walk by a problem you might influence, you are part of the problem.
- Hope Mr Smith will highlight if Columbus’ leadership ever comes around , and “owns up” to making a mistake in their appearance of undermining the events all-out support for Make a Wish (for two points?), in front of the very students this entire event was staged for.
-We know it’s a school game. We know its a school. We know they are educators. What know what they taught. Now,... what did they learn?

what a poster wrote: it wasnt a championship clinching td... still 6 minutes left and they had the ball they threw it away and then let up two more scores. it wasnt a good call but it wasnt the only reason why they lost.

ESPN Article (and posters comments)

Well it was on CNN this morning so it's getting national attention. I hope the AD involved gets a ton of crap for this.

Sometimes there are occasions where rules should be ignored. This was one of them.

I think the pink uniform is so much worse because the MA football, I think, was simply a very (overly) strict judgment call by the part of the referee. On the other hand, in the pink uni game, the coach (and AD) of the opposing side actually raised the issue with the referee and demanded the foul at halftime, when they were losing by point.

What great role models and teachers those jerks are for their students!

Also, if there is to be a violation and foul to be called for such a thing it should be done immediately on the start of the game or else be considered unenforceable.

Stupid rule to begin with that home team has to wear white. NFHS and State Athletic Associations are the bane of High School sports.
