Well then the Will Call folks must be hosed too…
Is the Will Call functionality operative? Lots of places eliminated it have they not. -- in the age of e tickets? MLB for instance does not accept paper anymore. I had to download both GoTicket and Ballpark.com last Saturday.

Don't you need to show a ticket to get inside where the box office is?

UConn and Visiting Team Player-Guest Entrance - The UConn and Visiting Team Player-Guest entrances are located at the east entrance. All individuals picking up a ticket must present a valid photo ID.

Sales and General Will Call - General public will call is located through the main entrance”

If you were to go into the HOCKEY-L archives you could find a long running argument about the wisdom of holding the ECAC tournament in Lake Placid which at the time had Olympic ice. (I think it still probably does.) I maintained that they should move the tournament to Albany which has NHL ice. The larger ice favors one type of team, the smaller ice favors another. And then in the "NC$$" regionals and Frozen Four, they go back to smaller ice. Albany is also more convenient to get to. They eventually moved it to Abany for a few years. But they moved it back to Placid for the ambiance. Placid is a vacation destination and more people wanted to go there in the ECAC-sphere.
So when they make the Herb Brooks rink at lake placid nhl size is it not NHL regulation

For those wondering how Sacred Heart built a bigger arena for less money, they didn’t. Not only were they misleading about capacity (actual is 2600 in lower bowl plus several hundred upstairs - the rest is SRO) but the costs were clearly higher than originally stated. The page below from the architects promoting an award says the actual construction costs were $84M.

What is the deal with WHOC season tickets? All are general admission?
Did anyone ever respond to this? Going to my first WHOC game at Toscano and tickets say general admission. Does that mean you can sit wherever you want or are there particular sections you can sit?

Pretty sure that is what it means.

A much improved location for the band as compared to their previous location behind the glass. Students belong there and will hopefully develop some energy and fun antics behind the net. Kudos to the crew for making this change and listening to the suggestions of many fans!
It's definitely an improvement, though not as big an improvement as taking a sledgehammer to the student deck would have been. The latter would create more seats and eliminate the restricted view seats caused by putting a concrete block house in the middle of the stands.

Still, it's an improvement and moving the band up there makes the best possible use of it

That monstrosity should be replaced with a clear wall, like other areas of the arena have in place already.

I spoke with some band members between periods. Consensus (limited sample) is they like the privacy aspect, dislike the sightlines, and agree that the optics from the opposite end are way better.

My seats are in Sec 122. It's much easier to hear the band now, and having the whole area below the deck filled with students is great. A disappointing crowd of only 2200 last night, probably fewer tonight up against football ticketholders.

Agreed, a contiguous full bowl would be better, but I don’t see that kind of renovation occurring for some time. At least the placement of assets and fans behind the goal was fixed and I’ll give UConn credit here for the change.

I like the changes. Seems like they also put seating on the deck, which makes sense. But jeesh, can they let the band play. Enough of the canned music all the time. And I still prefer UConn Husky to Brass Bonanza. We are UConn, not the Whalers. Lastly, is it a cost of being on tv that the band needs to wait until they interview players to play the alma mater?

I agree about the band, and not just for hockey. We have an outstanding marching band and pep band. I would much rather hear from them than canned music.

Although I theoretically agree with your preference for UConn Husky, Brass Bonanza is a great post goal song. Yeah, it had its origin with the Whalers, but I feel like it's now a UConn thing.

Agree on Brass Bonanza. State ownership of the rights to use it was part of the Whalers exit agreement. Regarding the band, yes, far prefer it to canned music.

Given that it was the Whalers theme song I'm OK with Brass Bonanza for the few UConn games at XL. But definitely the pep band at Toscano.
