Didn't get a tornado, but the hail hitting my car was the worst I heard in years.

Nothing here in north central CT. Bunch of rain, cloud to ground lightening, sub moderate winds. No hail or anything of that nature.

I remember growing up in the early 80s. We would get thunderstorms, but never really experience the cloud to ground lightening that we get with our storms today. Additionally, our frequency of tornadic activity has skyrocketed. What used to be a fluke event is now becoming a normality.

Its great for the overtime at work but bit horrible for those who are affected by the events.

I remember some crazy lighting in the 80's. I wonder if the tornadoes are really more common or if they are just better identified because of weather technology?

I know there was a big one that hit near Bradley in the late 70's or early 80's and Mohawk Mtn in Cornwall took a beating from a tornado in the 90's.

Had a tornado hit my building in North Haven around 83 or so. I had leased about 70,000 ft. to UPS and it shut them down for over a month

Nothing really bad in Vernon just traditional thunderstorm stuff. Seemed like last year every thunderstorm brought crazy winds and lightning.

Not sure there is any evidence of more tornadoes nowadays in the South but there are more tornadoes occurring in the North and they are occurring at times in the year when they never used to. Those tornadoes were bad in 1989 in CT., they destroyed Hamden, Bantam and also touched down in several other towns like Watertown and Waterbury. Springfield Mass was blasted 2 summers ago and back in 1953 there was the Flint-Worcester tornado events. The same weather event that completely destroyed Flint, Michigan completely destroyed Worcester, MA. the following day. A lot of people died in Flint and Worcester and the Worcester tornado is considered one of the worst ever.
