Who do you have? My list was compiled based on the biggest impact to their teams while sitting.

Cameron Brink/Stanford
Taylor Soule/Boston College
Tamari Key/Tennessee
Olivia Nelson-Ododa/Uconn

I would have had Boston on this list, but they have the depth at her position to have her sit.

Stanford win with Brink fouling out in 8 minutes thinking she doesn’t need to be on this list

Soule & Key for sure because they don’t have backups. Stanford has several backups for Brink including Prechtel who came up big vs TN with Brink in foul trouble. As for Liv, I feel better with Dorka and Amari able to take some minutes at the center spot. The other Big’s I would add to the list are NCSt’s Cunane and UGA’s Staati.

It’s ironic reading your post because I was thinking in parallel terms. Without Paige, UConn is obviously not the same team. So, I was thinking of other top teams and how would the loss of their top player impact their fortunes. Here are my four:
SC- While they can adequately replace Boston with Cardoso and/or myriad of combinations of their deep roster, SC would not be the same team without the likely national player of the year.
Stanford - Cameron Brink is essential to their success, but they have depth at her position. Without Haley Jones, Stanford would flounder as she plays so many roles, particularly ball handling at crunch time. Her only area that needs to improve is her outside shot.
Iowa- Without Caitlin Clark, Iowa is just an average team. While Clark’s shooting is down this year (too many forced attempts) her rebounding is up & she is playing better defense. While she doesn’t have all of Beucker’s attributes, she assumes more responsibility for the team’s success.
ND - Maybe a surprise here, but Olivia Miles is the real deal. Her court vision is outstanding and when in transition, she’s a threat to make a beautiful pass for an assist or take it to the hole. While Citron has made an impact, ND wouldn’t have made the progress this year without Miles.
In summary, I still think that UConn losing Paige for however long impacts her team more than any other in the country, especially considering the expectations for the team.

Cunane has a capable backup in Camille Hobby. When Cunane was out last season vs VPI.... Hobby stepped up and scored 19 points.

Hillmon for Michigan in my opinion. Yes, Leigha Brown can come through in the clutch but against teams who can scheme to shut her down, who's next to provide the points they need?

I think I might have the winner. Not sure that they've had to play a game without her so we haven't seen what it would look like, but Washington St. without Charlisse Leger-Walker would be a well below average team I think.

Hard to not mention a live example ( besides Paige/UConn) when you have Oregon playing without 3 top players/scorers. Yeah it changes things.

As a Domer, I don't think of this as a surprise because Miles has been driving that team with each passing game. During the Pitt post-game presser, she attributed ND's picking up steam to not only her (Miles) learning her teammates' tendencies and likes, but her teammates knowing what she (Miles) likes to do.

The initial gut is to think Maddy Westbeld, but having Citron around would mitigate Maddy on the bench, as might Sam Brunelle at least from a scoring perspective.

However, I believe ND plays its best when both Miles and Citron are in the game. Miles swears that Citron has the best basketball mind she's ever played with and the two are on the same page in any situation. So 1 and 1A for me.

Totally agree with you about Caitlin Clark and Iowa.

I watched the Pitt game and ND is playing with a lot of confidence, energy and fun. Their style of play is enjoyable and Citron does appear to have a high BB IQ. The pass from Miles as she was driving the lane to Mabry for an open three in the second quarter was a highlight play.

It will be interesting in the subsequent years to see whose freshmen class turns out better: ND, with Miles & Citron or UConn, with Fudd & Ducharme. I hope they continue to schedule one another every year. Always a great rivalry.

Engstler for Louisville. As was seen yesterday and in the fourth quarter against Kentucky a week ago, they are a much different team when she is on the floor.
Emily is the most important player on that team. She does all of what you call the dirty work. A steal, rebound, pass, defensive stop, or whatever they need to win.

I think she's kinda like players they had a few years ago--Shook and Fuehring--only better.

Emily is the type of player who will be better in the WNBA, because she can defend many positions.

Just thought of another:

Elizabeth Kitley, the Va. Tech Center.
Even Aisha Sheppard, the gifted scorer, calls Kitley the centerpiece. After watching her against FSU on Sunday, I agree.

It's very interesting to go to Ducharme's bio page on the UConn website. Two of the pictures of her in action have her guarded by two other freshmen tall guard/wings: Payton Verhulst and one Sonia Citron.

Verhulst probably has PT blocked right now by a combination of Engstler and Smiths, but she'll factor into the equation next year, I'm sure: another tall, talented guard/wing who can score inside and out.

Been interesting to watch Ducharme during a relatively small sample size. She's got a "college-ready" frame and holds her own well in the lane. Plus, she's got great range on that jumper. She has a knack for finding open space.

Citron is really quite young (just turned 18 this fall: Lauren Betts, still in high school, is older), looks it and finds herself hitting the floor like a young colt.
However, she always manages to be around the ball and gets it. She'll only be more successful as she gets stronger.

Like you, I think it will be fun to watch these two classes of players grow and play against each other. Fudd and Miles are very different cups of tea, but what the heck. Enjoy it.

Good point. Even when she isn't in foul trouble, if Kitley is having a rough game it impacts VT.
