This is just so everyone has plausible deniability for when Boatright "surprises" everyone and wins the Cousy Award.

No mention of Boat... someone explain how this is possible?

http://espn.go.com/blog/collegebasketballnation/post/_/id/98805/players-to-watch-point-guards

Keep on doubting... we'll keep winning.

I dunno. They only mentioned 5 players*, and RB was very inconsistent, but stepped it up at the right time, ala DD. Before the tourney, I don't think Boat was a top 5 point in his class.

*One of the 5 was Harrison, who, is not a point guard.

But, I do agree with the fact that the media has been overlooking this Giant of a BBall program.

"Keep on doubting... we'll keep winning."

Love it.

Well, if you don't know Louisiana Tech (which is not a who, but a what), than I cannot help you. Think Karl Malone. He played there. I do know Kenneth Smith, but never heard of this one.

I don't buy into the conspiracy theories that the media as a whole hates UConn, but C.L. Brown really looks foolish here. Shabazz and Boat absolutely dominated the Harrisons in the championship game. There were a few possessions where Andrew couldn't even get the ball over half court. I see the potential in Aaron as a three point specialist in the NBA (maybe), but Andrew can't shoot and is not a PG, which is why his inclusion on this list is baffling. I love ESPN, but its online college basketball writers outside of O'Neil and Bilas are awful.

Harrison, really? Enough already. If Kentucky's latest 40-0 dreams rest on him as point guard then they're in big trouble

They devoted a paragraph to praising Napier and UConn and we think the article has an anti-UConn bias?! Boatright isn't a PG yet and it isn't a done deal yet who will start at PG for UConn in 2014-15, whereas other guys on this list are returning PG starters.

You really don't think that Boat is the starting PG?

It's likely that he is, but the fact is that he's not a returning starter at the position. Every other player on that list is.

He probably is the starting PG, in most cases he is. But the fact right now is all the other guys on that list played PG last year and Boatright didn't.
And that's not the question, the question is would you rate him as one of the top-5 PG's in college ball right now?
My point is he can get there but until he plays ONE GAME as UConn's primary PG it is not exactly a dis to leave him off such a list.

I hope RB is invited to C. Paul summer camp. Pick his brain on how to make it at the next level.

I don't know why people get upset about this stuff. He's not in the first group because he wasn't primarily a point guard last year. He's not in the second group because he's not new to college basketball next year. If there was a third list for "guys who will play point guard next year who played shooting guard last year but sometimes ran the offense and played point guard when the starting point guard was on the bench", I'm sure he would be ranked highly on it.

Wasn't he there last year with bazz? I would expect him to be back in that case

I kind of do. SMU wasn't a great team last year but is certainly a team to watch this year because people have some expectations of them. I think those of us who are irked are thinking with the understanding that Boat WILL be the point this year (it's really his only shot at the NBA), and his ability to do so and lead this team WILL determine our success. Not to mention, he's doing it on defending Nation Champion Guard/Wing U. And everyone in the media knows this. I think that makes him someone to pay attention to this year.

Boat is a scoring guard learning how to play point guard. He needs to make other players around him better and take fewer bounces. He made great strides last year around tourney time and if that growth continues we will be one hell of a team.

Purvis was listed on the accompanying article as a top shooting guard but I know we like to think the media hates us so we can ignore that one.

I wouldn't consider Boatright as point guard. He's more of a shooting guard but he could play point guard.

He's a point guard, but it should be noted that he didn't have a great year, overall. I'm confident he'll be much stronger next year, but he shot under 40% for the season last year. We don't get to bitch that such a player isn't considered in the top-5 nationally.

Why these articles bother anyone is beyond me, let them doubt us all they want. We will keep raising banners. Telling Boat, he isn't or he can't, will be the best thing that can happen to us for next year.
