Said at the beginning of the year this could be the first time we had 2 players go in the top 5 since ‘04.

you don't watch the NBA, do you?Centers arent in demand in today's NBA. I love the kid and I hope it happens.
Got to say, it’s pretty disrespectful to have articles like these with our guys as the cover. wtf.
Kessler's an ok comp but I actually think pre-injury Rob Williams is the closer/better comp for Clingan even though they look wildly different in terms of size:Clingan is as close to a guaranteed thing as there is in this draft (high floor), which is a defensive drop coverage stopper similar to Walker Kessler. Except some scouts think he has more potential on the offensive side than Kessler. Even if Clingan never develops a reliable 3-pt shot and ends up Walker Kessler 2.0, he will be able to have a long career in the NBA, as a lot of teams will gladly take on a Walker Kessler clone.
As long as he stays healthy, he'll be terrorizing the paint in the NBA for years to come.
Of course not, unless he calls cooper and says transfer here and i will stay to run in back for three peatI guess he's not coming back then.
why is anyone arguing with a guy who's been here a week? These posts of yours are going to age horribly.
Who told you that?Centers arent in demand in today's NBA. I love the kid and I hope it happens.
I haven't looked in a week or so and this stuff changes so often, but I've been seeing Castle more in the 10-20 range on draft boards. I 100% expect both to go, but at this point if anyone were to stay it would be Castle.Said at the beginning of the year this could be the first time we had 2 players go in the top 5 since ‘04.

"You said defense twice"Centers who can play defense and can run the floor, play D, rebound are in high demand.
#unintentionallyironicpostsWhich parts exactly? That he can’t shoot. As it stands he can’t shoot. Good shooters don’t shoot 55 percent from the line. I never said he couldn’t or wouldn’t develop a jump shot.
You guys are being oddly defensive
The mock draft lists I've looked at recently pretty much all have Castle in the top 10, and several have him top 5 (think #3 was the highest I saw him at).I haven't looked in a week or so and this stuff changes so often, but I've been seeing Castle more in the 10-20 range on draft boards. This, and DC may be one of the few players who can give Wemby a legitimate battle on the defensive end.Who told you that?
They are in absolute demand. They just have to be able to do the right things And can’t be plodding.
Top two players in NBA are centers in Embiid and Jokic. Porzongis at 7-2 has taken Celtics to next level. Anthony Davis killing it in LA. Rudy Goebert anchors the Twolves and I can go on and on.
And we are in the beginning era of 7-5 wemby and 7-1 Chet Plus more.
Centers who can play defense and can run the floor, play D, rebound are in high demand.
I see Castle developing into a bigger and better version of Marcus Smart --- a tenacious defender with a high IQ, who has a decent handle, can get to the rim consistently and will eventually become a decent 3-point threat. His passing ability has been underrated by some scouts, as he hasn't really showcased this component of his game much this season. I can also see why some compare him to a younger Jimmy Butler given his frame/style of play, as well as Jrue Holiday.
Clingan - it's really difficult to find a comparison. He's all of 7'2 [possibly 7'3] and quite athletic for someone his size. His offensive game is still limited but could certainly round out over time in the league. I am a believer in his ability to shoot from distance, it just isn't a part of UConn's usual gameplan. This draft class may be weak overall, but I think both our guys would be lottery, or at the very least mid-teens to early-twenties in practically any draft.
When I was a 18 yo camp counselor playing against 11 yos, I had 32 block shots.I counted 9 blocks in those highlights. Illinois shot 13% from the field and scored 14 points the entire game when Clingan was on the court. Find me a more dominant performance than that, I dare you.
Bogut is not a bad comparison.Ive been hearing a lot on draftnik pods/articles that clingan is 'not good on offense'. I swear they must not be watching the games and how he impacts the offense; he is an incredible screener with great feel of when to flip screens. This is an underrated part of unlocking elite offense, see bogut and what draymond learned to do when freeing up the splash brothers. Not only is Clingan a great screener, he has tremendous court vision and dexterity to throw on the money passes to cutters. Very similar to bogut + green as well.
Sure he is not jokic in the post with an array of moves and soft touch... but he's also not a complete zero on that end. He gets the ball thrown to him a bunch and has SOME moves. But the best part of his offense has nothing to do with individual shot making.
He has a great shooting stroke. We just haven’t needed it this season.Just not sure a big without a jumper makes sense that high. If a team thinks he can develop one then that’s a different story.
There isn't really a good comp for Clingan right now. Bigs in the NBA have such diverse skillsets. At his ceiling, Clingan is going to pass well enough to get 3-4 APG, rebound 8-10 per game, and give you a ton of vertical spacing and 1-2 from deep per game.
Brook Lopez took 30 3’s his first 8 years in the league and in his 9th year took 387 and now makes a living hanging around the 3 point line.He has a great shooting stroke. We just haven’t needed it this season.
Can’t find it now, but someone posted a video of Clingan making 7 threes in a row during a pregame warm-up of one of the recent games.

If Clingan was any threat to shoot he would’ve shown it more to make teams respect it. In reality it’s just not there yet and it would be hurting the team to have him shoot 3sHe has a great shooting stroke. We just haven’t needed it this season.

Ya! He’s terrible!!7 3s in a row from the same spot really isn’t that indicative of skill
All of our kids are very highly motivated. That's what they signed up for and the culture requires it.All I'm going to say is that Andre Jackson became a 37.5% three point shooter after 1 summer of NBA training, and Clingan's shot fundamentals are 10x better than Andre's was at UConn last year
If the work ethic is there, and if an NBA team wants him to become a reliable (enough) shooter, he will be
