Top 3 Things You Want Us To Work On In Practice Before The Big Dance Starts.

Practice contested "bunnies".
Don't stand around when away from the ball.
Get more long rebounds from missed 3 point shots. When an opponent shoots a contested one, our defender needs to be in front of the shooter and facing the basket so as to be in position to get the rebound. Think of it as "boxing out the 3 point shooter". The same positioning applies to any other opponents away from the basket. Too often, our defenders just stand around after contesting the 3 point shot.

KK driving into the lane.
What do you mean “beating a dead horse”?
I’ve grumbled about this issue more than once, and that’s kind of a Boneyard no-no.

As I understand the rules it is okay to criticize a player provided you don’t go overboard or get personal. Offering constructive criticism is generally acceptable. The coaching staff is certainly aware of what each player needs to work on to take their game to the next level. Consider all the positive aspects of a player’s game rather than focusing on the areas that need to be improved and you will grumble less. I try to find humor in every situation. I remembered hearing a metaphor that referred to the tall defenders guarding the paint as “the trees” and envisioned KK driving into the redwood trees.

1. Concentrate on offensive rebounding early in the game.
2. KK to drive and slow down a bit when shooting with the head up.
3. Serious full court press, with Sarah engaged in it.
4. Bonus: Play to a 15 second clock on offense.
5. Bonus+: Passes to Jana need to be high and directed to her.
6. Bonus++ Enjoy the advantage of the two (2) home court start.
