This is a very, very important game for us and I will only say one thing about it- If Paige plays like she played against Butler it will energize the team again and this could be a statement game. Tennessee is long, active and physical and they will press all game. They handled Iowa with it at Barclay's but that was then and this is UCONN. Anyway, here are my top 3 things:

1) The same Paige that we saw against Butler.

2) Jana, Ice and Aubrey to neutralize Tennessee's offensive rebounding.

3) Suffocating defense leading to trademark UCONN transition basketball.

You gotta have at least 3. What are they?

Tennessee will be the first decent team they have played in a while. The scary thing about Tennessee is they are willing to shoot 60 threes in a game and UConn is willing to allow them. I don't expect this to be a close victory for UConn.

1. Show that they can defend the three on the weak side when needed
2. The offense to be able to run against a decent defense that has a little athleticism
3. The stars need to play like stars and the supporting cast needs to raise their level when on the court.

I want to see UCONN

1. Defend the 3
2. Rebound with Tennessee or keep it close
3. Limit TO with their press.

This feels like a trap game for UCONN. Tennessee has been on the slide and is looking for a big win. If they get hot from 3 and force TO with their pressure it could be a long ugly night for our ladies.

1. Ash and/or Azzi need to play well. This is not big east opposition. And usually their performances have been inconsistent against this kind of opponent imo.

2. Paige. I would like for Paige to be the best player on the floor in this contest.

3. Three point shooting defense. They average approximately 11 3 point field goals a game. I would like to hold them to less than that. 8 sounds good.

With our upcoming game, I’m more interested in what UConn does than what UT does.

.1 who defends Talaysia Cooper? I’m thinking Paige, but If Geno goes bigger, I would want Aubrey as much as possible. Is she in peak condition to run with Cooper a lot of minutes?

2. speaking of running, are Ice, Jana and Sarah ready to run without a drop off in efficiency? I suspect Sarah is easily capable so this concerns Ice and Jana mostly? Does Geno just go with a small lineup.

3. How deep will Geno reach into the bench and what will the minutes be? 7 or 9 ?

Basically, I see a 13 to 20 point win for UConn. Tennessee has some good players but UConn has more. I’m impressed with Tennessee’s new coach, but she’ll be facing the master for the first time.

Limit TOS. They forced SC into 6 in a quarter (one half of their average).

Paige, Sarah, and Azzi go wild. We get on the boards especially.

Mo and Aubrey to start getting back into offensive flow. Morgan seems to have lost confidence, and of course, we just want Aubrey back to her regular self. What better than a rivalry game?

1. Trapping, smothering, relentless defense
2. Kaitlyn, Sarah, Azzi, Paige hitting on all cylinders
3. KK & Shade coming off the bench with productive minutes
Going for four:
4. Jana and Ice making a difference in a good way.

I'm glad to see Geno recently addressing the issues he has with the post play.... The two posts need to step and do their jobs (resulting in more playing time and less bench).

I'm still haunted by that sweet 16 game a couple of years ago when our girls looked as
though they had never seen a press or a trap before. So
1. Keep turnovers to fewer than a dozen
2. Have a decent shooting night ( 45/35) or better.
3. Be competitive on the boards.

If we do that, I think we win easily.

1. Sustain the TN pressure and find the open men for easy baskets
2. Press TN. A lot of times, pressing teams do not like to be pressed.
3. Limit TN 3-point shots.
#2. Exactly. They can't match our offense.
