Forget Holy Cross and focus on Louisville. They are good even when they aren't and they are ranked #22 right now. They only lost to UCLA by 7. Jeff Walz is very overlooked as a coach at times. Did you know he has 8 Elite 8 appearances, 4 Final Fours, and 2 Finals games? His win percentage is 73%. They are always physical. I will be there to watch, with special thanks to huskiemaniac, and here are my top 3 things:

1) Can't start slow against this team. It has to be energetic defense and offense with Paige taking charge early and Azzi playing off her.

2) Our bigs to stay out of foul trouble and just have solid floor games defending and rebounding.

3) Own the third quarter like it's nobody's business.

I will add a fourth only for this game and it is that the driver shows up to take us back to Jersey from Brooklyn after the game. :)

1. All the lessons from the first quarter of the HOLY CROSS game have "learned" and
fully addressed!
2. The starting lineup begins the victory, and the "SECOND FIVE" complete the "W">
3. The Huskies move on to SOUTH BEND with confidence and determination = GO UCONN!

1. 40 minutes of UConn level effort
2. Offensive Rebounding
3. Control Cochran and make others take shots

I was on ESPN a moment ago and Oklahoma beat Louisvivlle 78-72. Louisville made 29 fouls and their 2 best players fouled out of the game. Looking good for our HUSKIES!!!!

I watched the 1st half of the UL - Oklahoma game and thought to myself, should I give credit to UL for solid play or criticize OK for their awful play. Then I checked the scores while watching the UCONN men's game. OK pulled it out? How did that happen? I can only guess a few things: OK stopped turning the ball over (almost 20 in the 1st half); somehow OK's big managed to contain Cochran (she fouled out) and UL's young guards fell apart and their bench isn't as deep or talented as we may have thought. For anyone who watched the entire game, please weigh in on my assessment.

Given all that here my 3 things:
1) UCONN has to be all over the glass on both ends of the court, but especially on the defensive end. OK may be the best rebounding team in the country but UL was out-quicking them to a lot of offensive rebounds and second chance points.
2) UCONN'S bigs have to contain Cochran. She had a solid 1st half both scoring and on the boards. We don't have a Beers equivalent, I'm not sure that Ice can contain her but she and Jana will need to step it up. I wasn't particularly impressed with the rest of UL's front court, so if we can play them even, that turns the game into a......
3) Backcourt battle where UCONN should have a big advantage. However they'll have to minimize the turnovers against UL's pressure defense and quickness. Point 2 here is to wear down and harass the crap out of their young guards and press their scoring advantage.

1. Azzi has another breakout game
2. Aggression in the post
3. A win with everyone healthy

Consistent defensive intensity, especially from Chen and KK, they're going to need it.

Sarah to prove something against the bigs like Cochran and Harris.

PB to drop a 20 piece and get the W.

1. Sarah and Jana with a double double
2. Paige playing like the POY she is
3. good minutes to the bench players

1, Jana doing her thing holding down the post. First of many......
2. Paige with 20+, showing All American play
3. Morgan steps up with 15 -20 beginning her dominance in the women's game

Three things:
  • Game-wide intensity and maturity;
  • Beautiful basketball with Paige, Azzi and Sarah giving a little taste of what’s to come;
  • Show latent aspects of the offense and defense now that all available players (including 5 in-comers) have gotten a little comfortable playing with one another in Geno’s system.
Already priced-in:
  • With enough seasoning, this team is primed to dominate most of its competition.
