That was an important win against North Carolina. It was a physically strong, ranked team with good guards who could score and we played them in one of the toughest and iconic places to win. Great experience for our frosh. So what's next? Wednesday will be all about Geno so here are my top 3 things:

1) A historic win for a historic career which is still going with no current end in sight. How lucky we all have been that UCONN took a chance on him and CD too of course 40 years ago. Think of all the young women whose lives were changed over four decades. Many will be there for the occasion.

2) All the fanfare that is well deserved and a lot of smiles and joy.

3) A standing ovation for Azzi if she enters the game, as many of us are expecting and the highest octane offense we have perhaps ever had.

• Beautiful basketball for 40 minutes to celebrate Geno’s achievement in front of all the program greats, a raucous home crowd and a national audience;

Unfortunately they lost their first game today to Syracuse 77-58.

My desires for this game are simple. Huskies get out to a big lead and in part of the 3rd quarter and all of the fourth, the starters rest and the "second string" plays. I highlight "second string" since I believe most of them would start for 95% of the teams in the US. At some point, Morgan, Allie, etc. will have to come in in a critical role and they need playing time to get in sync.

While I would also love to see Azzi play, would also like to see Patterson take the court this game or soon. While there has been little news on her rehab, another banger under the boards is one of the only things on this roster we are thin at.

1. A historic win for Geno/CD. BTW, 40 years ago did UConn take a chance on Geno/CD, or did Geno/CD take a chance on UConn? Considering that state of the program 40 years ago, going from an assistant at Virginia to a HC at an awful WCBB program I would say it was Geno taking the chance.

2. A post-game hug and lovefest with some of my favorite people.

3. Some "let's start to knock the rust off" minutes for Azzi.
