There was such great exuberance and satisfaction from our 12th championship, which was achieved in historically convincing fashion, that the off season actually did not drag as much this year. Nevertheless, there are so many interesting possibilities with this year's team, so many options, that we couldn't wait for it to start. So here we are and here are my top 3 things for the exhibition game against Boston College:

1) A stronger, faster, more confident Ice with a pull up J off the dribble.

2) Our newcomers seamlessly fitting into the offense and defense with burgeoning chemistry.

3) Caroline starts with Ice, Sarah, Azzi and KK in the Exhibition.

What are yours? The fairway is wide open so tee off.

#1. I want to see everybody working smoothly as an offense.

#2. I want to see us rebounding like the ball is the last cookie and the whole team are fat boys.

#3. I want to see a smothering defense so awesome it makes Boston College mull over their decision to come out for the second half

1) I am excited to see a healthy Ayanna Patterson play, and hopeful that she is much better than folks give her credit for. Nobody, and I mean nobody ever speaks of her (positive or negative), it’s as if she is not even on the team. I hope she changes that “forgotteness” in one single practice game!

2) I am excited to see Blanca play. She is either completely unknown (primarily by the US talking heads), or she is spoken about in the highest regards by Husky fans. For some, it is as if they have anointed her as Freshman of the Year, and we have not yet seen her even play. I hope that she is that good!

3) I am excited to see Allie Ziebell play, and am hopeful that she is deadly with her jump shots! In high school she was one of the best shooters in the game; last season she was very streaky at best and didn’t seem to have a great defensive game to justify playing time. I hope she is much improved in both of these aspects!

Savage.🤣

1. no one get hurt with a season ending injury.
2. no one get hurt with a nagging injury that prevents optimum performance for the entire seaseon.
3. A team that plays together even though it is really early for that and everything that people commented above.

Regarding Ayanna, I have in the past indicated that most of us really don't remember her game as it's been two years since she first stepped on the court. She is a great rebounder, jumps extremely high, can actually shoot the short jumper, but I also remember the fouls. Not fouling and playing great defense is an art, and missing two years of playing and learning will be a disadvantage, but she will learn, and lets not forget, she was a top five talent coming out of high school. I really hope Geno gives her a good shot because she could be the x-factor in the frontcourt this year. Missing all that time I'm sure Geno will give her ample time to fit in, so this is a big year for her, and I believe we will be more than pleasantly surprised with her contributions this year. Really rooting for her.

Nice recap of Yanna!
She has to finish inside. She didn’t as a freshman. Shoulder?

Next season, instead of 3 Carols, I’ll probably have to say “Ayanna Ayanna Ayanna.”

In my addled mind, Carol is like the converse of the proverbial canary in the coal mine. If she plays, you know things are going well for the team. It’s possible Ayanna will be next year’s canary converse.

I watched a number of Ayanna’s games in high school. I think they’re still available on YouTube, including a game against Ash. What you see in those games is not someone with great skills on offense. What she is on the court is the most athletic player in every game — strong, quick, efficient. A tremendous rebounder and defender who ran the court really well. Yes, she had a decent midrange jump shot. But the fact that she relied on it so often (instead of simply driving to the rim the way Aaliyah might) says a lot about her offensive confidence.

When she arrived in Storrs, the jump shot was not much in evidence, but the rebounding and the defense, and the fouling typical of a freshman, all these were very much evident. Her post moves were rudimentary and easily defended mainly because she would do too many shot fakes. That’s the sign of someone who lacks confidence in this aspect of her game. If she gets to play with Sarah and Serah in practice for a year, she may learn a lot about post offense. I have confidence in her. So next season, get ready for my Ayanna Ayanna Ayanna posts. They’re coming.

I feel like Ayanna sometimes is the forgotten woman on the board. When healthy she is incredibly gifted athletically. I am looking forward to seeing what she can do this season.
