Man the big east was great. louisville Notre dame and Connecticut all top 3 in the polls.

Why not? Duke can not beat a bunch of freshmen and the almighty LVols loose to a team like Ball State. Did not matter when Uconn and ND were beating the snot out of each other 4 games a year while The Vols were fattening up on East Carolina and Tennessee Tech.

Last year ND and UConn destroyed Louisville 2 times each. If Louisville had losses to both teams this year, they would be lower than 3rd.

The old Big East was a great, great conference. But the inherent split between football and non-football schools was like the San Andreas fault. I'm most disappointed that those college presidents didn't split earlier and assemble another superb basketball/football conference that included those three schools, plus Rutgers and W VA on the women's side.
