Too much posting up

What was most surprising and disappointing about this was the lack of in-game adjustments to counteract St. Johns' strategy to have Ejiofor go one-on-one with Tarris. This was an obvious major strategical move by Pitino, and it looked like Hurley didn't know how to respond. You're right; we could have done the things you suggested- especially when we were able to cut the deficit to 49-42. Instead they outscore us 23-10 the rest of the way and we didn't make a single field goal over the last 8 minutes.

Reminiscent of Kadary Richardson a few years back driving down the lane like 8 times in a row without any adjustment.

Can we maybe wait to see what the tournament brings? Posting up is what works in the Big East when our cutters, movers and shooters are being impeded, held, grabbed and bumped. I fully expect our motion and ball motion offense to stage a miraculous recovery once freed from this wretched league officiating and from teams built specifically to stop us.

St. John's had us doing things we don't normally do. For instance, when they got it down to 49-42, the next possession Mullins dribbled all the way up court with people right behind him ready to steal it, and they poked it away. St. John's got the ball, Ejiofor hit a 3. That whole sequence really sucked the life out of UConn. And why? We were doing something we regularly do not do. We were pressed and responded poorly.

All the players need to do is keep their heads and not panic.

Agreed, but we have to handle the press at this point in the season. Every coach has seen it work on us and if they have a roster to do it….

It usually starts with inbounding the ball into the corners or inability to find an open man. This seems like it can be corrected, no ?
