Some of them did get us. But they've run out of time. Despite 2 season ending injuries to starters, you can feel things coming together.
The 4 guard lineup works. We'll need Carlton against some teams with beef, but against everyone else, we're going to be a problem. Between Adams and Sid, we'll be able to cope with most medium sized or smaller teams just fine. There's so much more space on offense and teams are really starting to shade help to Bouknight (and CV when he's coming off screens), which just makes even more space and lets Whaley slip for dunks and Adams to take someone off the bounce. Our most played lineup over the last 5 games has been my favorite: Gaff, CV, Bouk, Adams, and Whaley.
Meet the new big 3:
CV is hitting 3's again, and his finishing has even gotten better (probably partially thanks to the increased spacing). His lurking in the passing lanes continues to be awesome. He's going to make 2-3 knucklehead plays a game, but if his shot is falling and he's forcing turnovers, you live with it.
Whaley has been a monster. Offensive glass, passing, drawing fouls (50% FTrate and hitting 80% in conference play!). Playing D mostly without fouling. Only getting a couple blocks generally, but just making things a little bit uncomfortable for the opponent in the post and on penetration. Plus obviously the legendary hedging. He seemingly has a knack for playing under control while also having a high motor. Between him and CV, we get every loose ball in our defensive end.
Bouk is doing what great modern scorers do. In February, he's getting to the line 5+ times a game, making 81% of them, and hitting 44% from 3. He's scored at least 16 points in each game of the month, 8 straight.
