I have to agree with ThisJustIn - not specific to last night's game but the season as a whole - the NFL has a serious problem partly created by an incredibly complex rule book, and exacerbated by the size of the field and the number of players and the physicality of 'legal' play. But refs making mistakes not just in identifying fouls, but in the rules that govern play this year was a disaster.
I also think basketball refs get a bad rap - the number of really badly called games is few and far between, and the number where the bad calls are unbalanced are even rarer.
I know my team never commits a foul and the other team is always a bunch of thugs and the refs never seem to see it that way!
But I can count on one hand the number of games that might have turned out badly because of the refs in 20 years, and if I am honest, I can probably count on the other hand the games that the refs helped turn out positively. That really is not that bad a record.
