Why not? I admittedly have a Clemson lean due to friends, but this one might make sense...

- Was successful in a major college job
- Very good recruiter
- Ran a very clean program at a notoriously dirty school
- Name recognition
 
The Bowdens NEED to start over at a small industrial Midwest city; that's a NCAA rule.
 
Mention the Bowden name to a 17 yr old high school kid. You'll get a blank stare. C'mon. Didn't we just fire 'name recognition from the NFL' ?? :(

Wasn't that the argument in favor of hiring a guy who's record was 107–59–1 just a few years back?

I really hope the most positive comment we have on the new hire isn't "we can do a hell of a lot worse".
