One thing to note, Tom mentioned how Hurley came here wondering if he'd have to change his style to play 2 traditional bigs but he's realized he can keep playing the 4 out 1 in system he likes. Mentioned Jackson, Martin, Polley all potentially getting minutes as a small ball 4, but would mean being overloaded at the 5 position if they play that way

A few other random notes :

Thinks they're being picked in the Big East based on potential of what they can be compared to the other teams in their tier with more proven talent

Mentioned how being back in the Big East has changed recruiting, they're pitching the conference to recruits over using the Hurley/UConn name while in the AAC

Asked where the toughness will come from; said they're still trying to get it out of the guys. Tyrese Martin and Brendan Adams the guys he think may have it

Whaley's breakout reminds him of Hilton breaking out. Willingness to come back and not transfer, accept his role and work. Comfortable with Whaley taking jumpers from 12-14 feet off the pick and roll, not gonna be a 3 point shooter.

Uncertainty for 2022 recruiting, not sure on how many spots they'll have with Bouknight or transfers. They're looking at everything except a small PG, forced to cast a wider net since they couldn't see guys in person this offseason.

Said Hurley is not trying to hide the fact that he plans on Bouknight being gone after this year. That's the plan and how they approach it, come get us a banner and then get your name on the lottery pick wall. Willing to accept all the hard coaching which makes coaching everyone else easier

Good listen thanks for posting. Tom Moore is a really likable guy, coach you can feel the genuineness in him that parents as well as kids would grow comfortable with. Liked the talk about the ‘90 2-2-1 press vs those who didn’t buy in during the JC years (Doron, Ray, KEA, Rip and others who weren’t fans). The fact he’s an Allman Brothers fan makes me respect him even more but Tom, “Peaceful Easy Feeling”? What was he thinking lol.

Good stuff thanks again.

This was a great listen, thanks for posting and giving a write up. I’ve come to appreciate how he, Hurley, and the staff discuss the program. They’re straight shooters and I think the players and fans can really respect that. The season can’t get started quick enough.

As someone who lives in Charlotte, NC, I laugh at how much Coach Moore says Gastonia, NC when mentioning Whaley. I promise you it’s not the place to be lol. It is known however for producing some basketball royalty. Home of James Worthy and Leonard Hamilton.

Don't mention that to rip7774! They obviously wouldn't do that if they didn't think it helped. Right?
