ABC won't tell us but I hope The Horde and sharp-eyed Boneyarders at the game will check
out the neat seats behind our bench...be looking for possible future Huskies...hopefully
including a certain Wisconsin young lady who has gathered just a lil' bit of attention of late.
There are more ways to 'win' this weekend than by the scores of the games.

Well, if she wasn't impressed with what she (Serah) saw today, then the lady cannot be impressed. At 6'4, Ms. Williams may have noted that there is room for her in the paint. UConn has superb guard play and a sensational power forward in Sarah. A big with evolved skills could make the Huskies truly great. Hope she'll feel honored to join us and most welcome.

I mentioned it in the original "UConn interested in Serah" thread - IMHO an experienced post player like her would not only fit in perfectly, but much like Ash and KK came off the bench this year, would push Jana to coming off the bench, and Serah would be my expected starter.

I hope Azzi comes back. Serah not only could see how great Sarah is, but next year's probable starter at PG in KK - she was pretty awesome especially defensively. And playing with Azzi and Sarah - I know we lose a ton (Paige, Cait, Aubrey), but what we have coming back and coming in is pretty impressive. She should also be aware of how great we all think Blanca Quinones will be as well.

Starters (again just IMHO) of KK, Azzi, Blanca, Sarah, Serah with the quality we have coming off the bench - favorites for another final 4 and then some...

With multiple fingers crossed as I type [try it!] I heartily endorse
Eric's projected starting team next season. That would enable some veteran
leadership on and off the court from Ashlynn and Caroline [getting more and more
hopeful about her presence next year]. I expect Kelis to push KK at point. Morgan and Allie with
opportunities to be in the rotation. Hope Q gets some PT off the bench.
The 'bigs' ; Ice/Jana...a bit concerned about development [or lack of same].
Ayanna/Gandy...who knows?

This season..almost over...a tasty dessert coming up...meaning only one thing.
Thinking about next season can be done simultaneously. Geno and the staff are
getting the ingredients for a real feast [deep and tasty] in 2025/2026. As wonderful as they are it is
clear they need The Boneyard's help. Their refusal to admit that is a bit
of a shame....uhh...gag gag.

Woohoo! Our first lineup thread for next season!

Oh, wait. The tournament isn’t even over yet. D’oh!
There have been plenty of lineup posts in multiple other threads. And this was before the tournament even started. D'oh!

Plz explain "push "....we went thru 3 years of Nika being "pushed"...never came to fruition, the only thg keeping KK and Ash from starting this year is Kaitlyn and Azzi, so wht makes you thk tht a freshman who hasn't played a single play of D1 basketball is going to push a junior who started all of last year is gonna be "pushed" and why...Just curious.

I tend to agree - it's so hard to figure out how well freshmen will do no matter what they are ranked or what their accolades are...

IMHO... Sarah - much better than anyone anticipated - even tho the #1 recruit, she's been just incredible. Morgan, before her injury, about what you'd expect for a top 10'ish player - some really solid things off the bench. Allie - disappointing given that she was #7 coming out of HS, and short of blowouts or the last 5 minutes in games well in hand, hasn't done much. She needs to work on fitness and mobility.

Point being - Kelis is ranked in the 20's - at least by ESPN. Not sure about the other services. I would be very surprised if she contributes much, and certainly would not want to rely on her for 15+MPG as a sub for KK. I hope Geno goes after a backup PG in the portal. Gandy will be a project, and Blanca - well I predict she will be a starter, but again, who the heck knows at this point?

Shockingly I could be wrong...whether I admit it or not....another question.

I like KK as our point guard...especially on defense and for her all-round energy.
I regard...as of now...she is our only true point guard...though others can do some
'pointy' things. If Geno gets a solid back-up point to give KK some rest I'll be delighted,
Do we have an available schollie for that?

From the tape I have seen on Kelis [granted probably only highlights] I think she is talented enough
to earn that back-up role to KK....and KK at this point has some weaknesses...perimeter shooting e.g.
KK won't play 40 minutes a game....I see Kelis in the rotation right away...being effective and 'pushing'
KK to perform well.

You seem to be backing down on your initial assertion of Kelis pushing KK as the starter. She wont, but as the only current true PG for next year, she will have to play. All due respect but the #27 recruit is not going to supplant the #6 ranked player and former starter. In all the video I have seen, if UConn has Azzi back and gets an experienced PG in the portal, I am not sure Kellis will get much time at all-similar to Allie this year.

So, anyone see any visitors behind our bench yesterday? Anyone? ;)
What I did see was a glimpse of the old Caroline Ducharme with her shooting, driving to the hoop and her mixing it up underneath getting rebounds! Made me smile and renew my hopes for both her and us next year.

Well...let's agree to disagree. Not worried/concerned about the ranking system...I bet Geno is taking her regardless whether some ranking system has her #28...doubt he cares about that number.
No idea if Geno is even pursuing a point from the portal. If we get someone who beats
out Kelis for back-up point....great. If she doesn't I think Kelis can be effective in that role.

Is there someone Geno wanted and expected to get which explains where we will find ourselves next year if, as expected, Kellis is no wunderkinder?

Yeah, I have to disagree about Allie. She is fine. Yes, as with all freshmen, she needs to get better on defense and she was the #7 recruit but her issue is not that she is not good enough but rather that she is a freshman in the best guard corps in the country! She simply has nowhere to play! Paige, Azzi, Kait, KK, Ash, & now Caroline are simply too good, too experienced for her to break through this season! I believe we will see her in a new light next season. She is an incredible shooter, and will imo be a big part of the rotation next year.
As for visitors, Serah would be nice, I ‘d also like to see Kate Harpring, Olivia Vukosa, Jerzy Robinson, Jacy Abii, and Addison Bjorn there!

I tend to agree. But the fact is KK has almost all the virtues and vices of Nika’s first two years. She’s a dynamite on-ball defender and only okay as a scoring threat. This means we’ll hear all the same criticisms we heard of Nika all over again. And Kelis strikes me as cut out of KK’s mold: excitable, relentlessly cheerful, a ball of optimism. In high school she loved to score through contact just like KK did, and will likely discover that it’s a bit harder to do in D1.

I believe Allie will eventually be a star at UConn. She can do more than shoot the three accurately. Her defense will probably be much better next season.
