I posed this question in the chat and it was met with mixed reviews. I understand the story is still being written on this season, but to this point- where does this UConn team rank all-time vs. other UConn teams? With a final four appearance in hand and the way we demolished everyone in our path in the tourney, have they cracked the top 10? Top 5?

IMO you can’t put them ahead of any of our 4 title teams, but they are probably as or more impressive than any of our other teams that didn’t win it all. What does the Boneyard think?

Top 5. They’re better than 2014 and any team that didn’t win a title

IMO, even if we win a Natty this year the 1999 and 2004 teams rank above because of what they did in the regular season - both won the BE Championship, '99 was regular season champs and '04 tied BC for regular season champs. Hard to beat that.

If they win, based on results
2004
1999
2023
2011
2014

Based on the eye test, results be damned
1994
2004
1999
1995
2023

not really. How many UConn teams have made a final 4? And in this fashion?

One of two things are true. Either this is one of the greatest UConn teams ever OR this is one of the greatest coaching performances at UConn ever(a la 2014)

Great by accomplishments or performance metrics? If you mean by performance metrics, I don't care. If you mean by accomplishments, too early.

We've had plenty of teams who won conference championships and tournaments and made the Elite 8. That is accomplishing more than what we accomplished in the regular season with one more tournament win (and with the 1 and 2 seeds in our region knocked out by others). We win more games, and things change.

What we are seeing so far, Tourney-wise, is unprecedented. 2 games left until we can cement this teams legacy. Let's keep messing with the mojo.

It’s coming together at an Apex. Good coaching and good player performances.

The 2004 team was the most dominant team UConn ever had. They crushed the competition in the regular season and Tourney as well. IF this team was to win the Title this year in a convincing way, I'd put them as #2 behind the 2004 team.

Let’s revisit this in the endlessly long college basketball offseason.

Luckily, it’s Mar 26 and we are still in season.

Any team that wins a NC is better than the ones who don’t.
That includes 2014 who had to get through high seeds and great coaches.

Can't say yet, we're not done yet. Wouldn't want to speculate and curse the mojo, either

Wrong. Would you say the 2014 team was “better” than the 2009 team? I wouldn’t.

Do you mean 1995 ? The team that lost to UCLA? Since they're not on the list, I'll assume you do.

I guess I'll just leave it as I see both now. Nah, 1995 was better. I get that 94 also had Ray, but Sophomore Ray Allen was better than Junior Do tell and freshman Ray. And no way was 94 better than 04. Not even close. And you're missing 09. Probably also better than 94

Yup. By all accounts, a more talented team - lost. 2014 - not so much

Granted, if the two teams played, the 2014 team is gonna have trouble. And yet, that same team lost to an inferior Michigan State team

1994 had young Ray and NPOY candidate DYM. 1995 had sophmore Ray, Ollie, and Doron. 1994 was the better looking team and more dominant during the season.. 1995 is my favorite non-championship squad, but 1994 would beat them and should have won the title. UCLA was better in 1995.

1999 and 2004 are also closer than most think. Yes with a healthy Okafor isn't no contest, but Oak wasn't healthy all year. We are lucky he made it through the tournament. 1999 was a dominant team in it's own right.

In terms of the significance of their accomplishments, I'd have something like:
1999
2004
2011
2014
2009
2023
1990
1996
1995
1994
2006
2002
1998
...

In terms of, like, who could beat who on a given day, it's more like
2004
1999
2009
1995
1996
2023
2006
2011
1994
2002
2014
...
