Coach Weist is thrown into a tough situation taking over a crummy team after they were coached up by the abysmal Paul Pasqualoni and GDL. It is what it is and Weist has to prove himself in a short amount of time, today was a huge failure for him. This was the easiest game on our remaining schedule, a home game against an awful opponent and we failed miserably. Going to be hard for this team to scratch out a single win this season. Let's see how it plays out but my guess is this entire staff is gone, Warde is going to clean house and is conducting a national search.

The new coach should have the right to bring in an entirely new staff. That is common practice. Coach P chose to keep a couple when he came on. The new coach might as well.

I couldn't believe hearing one of the analysts on the WTIC Radio postgame show say that he likes the direction the team is going under Weist. What?!? Yeah, if you hate UCONN. Let's start the coaching search now.

Even my wife mocked that comment. That's how clueless they are.

At least now there should be no discussion about how many wins he'd need to get the job. Next coach? No New England ties. From real football country . . . anywhere but from New England. Someone who will change the culture here. Someone who values offense more than anything else. UConn should be ashamed to have been so inept on offense for so long.

Oh mylanta, here we go. . . .

Anyone else enjoy the rousing ovation that the CT high school football coaches got with Warde during one of the TV timeouts? Just in case McHugh still thinks that these guys should still have input into who our next coach should be, the 3 people clapping (probably because they wanted a free t-shirt) should hopefully remind him that they shouldn't.

Hathaway told Lyndon Johnson (who was a roomate to several of my friends when they played together at UCONN) that he could only guarantee him a job for the next year when he met with him after Edsall left and before he left to go with him. Their contracts (they worked on renewing 1 yr contracts from 1/1-12/31)had expired in Dec and Hathaway had just renewed them for next season. He made Pasqualoni keep the guys who didn't leave on his staff for the 2011 season. After that it was his choice.

I'm pretty sure Whaler11 gave the points today and that's why he's polluting every thread with gloom and doom. If there were 3 less drops everyone would be talking about winning our first game, getting our running game back and saying Tim made the plays he needed to make for us to win.

Whitmer never had at least 6 drops with 2 TD's in one game. Never....

If you didn't see progress in SOME areas today you weren't paying attention.

That said TJ's bad time management at the end and not telling Tim to spike it is unacceptable. He manned up but it was just beyond belief.

A 16-yard completion to Bradley to midfield and with 20 seconds left and one timeout the Huskies had a chance. Weist was caught deciding what to do and froze. He couldn’t get the play into Boyle and had to call a timeout with seven seconds left.

That left only a Hail Mary for Boyle to throw.

“I hesitated making a call and that’s on me,” Weist said. “We had to call a timeout. I am man enough to say what i did right and what i did wrong. That’s on me.”

The team sucks. You don't start 0-5 and lose at home to a miserably bad South Florida team unless you stink.

They are staring at starting 0-8. If you'd like to sit around and talk about hypothetical catches that could have changed the result knock yourself out.

Maybe the difference between 1-11 and 2-10 means something to you... the vast majority of people don't really make a qualitative distinction between the two.

Some of what you are calling progress is just playing a team that is so bad thinking about losing to them just makes my head hurt.

If you are so unhappy, you know where the door is. You're just as big a know it all pri** as PP and GDL were. I'm not gonna debate you because the only way to shut your miserable ass up is to ignore.

At the end of the day we saw a first time head coach and true freshman in action. They mode the football on the ground. Boyle showed flashes. He can really sling the rock with some zip. Two drops in the end zone. Countless other drops.

....and we have more of the same to look forward to next season when we have a brand new coach. I need a drink.

I'm shocked you managed to trick someone into marrying you. That poor poor woman.

Zing! Good one.

One thing she isn't is poor.

Ah, married into money did ya? ;)

Yeah sure that's it. About as accurate as what passes for football analysis around here.

You don't have to if you don't want to. Really...you don't.

Instead you can just play the games in your head like Art, where UConn is really good.

Take your piss poor attitude and cheer for a new team.

Did you know that both Chip Kelly and Brian Kelly both have New England ties? Just saying, you don't write anyone off based on geography.
