UConn. They have proven that they always have just enough to win in this tournament. Also, Paige is back.

I really hate this match up. I am huge Coach Staley fan. But I am riding with my UConn squad.

Keys are 1) can UConn limit turnovers against SC defense? 2) can UConn bigs stay out of foul trouble? 3) what happens if SC (or UC) has poor shooting night?

This will be low scoring, but I predict UConn winning 62-60

With a day to prepare, UCONN is playing the same SC team they played earlier in the year. SC isn't. Everyone on UCONN looks noticeably different than even 2 months ago. I don't think Paige or Boston is what decides this game. It will be the players around them.

Geno disagrees. He says South Carolina has gotten a lot better “…but so have we”. He thinks it will be another close game with both teams battling to the end.

This is me - I like how UConn is closing out games. The losses and nail biters have helped them prepare for the tourney better than blowing teams out by 40. I like how everyone has chipped in something - a rebound, a steal, a free throw….

Should be a great game.

I’m thinking UConn at the moment. They have the length to bother SC’s guards, and the game earlier in the season featured some players playing while hurt. Ducharme is someone I’d like to see get going as she could play a difference in this game if given the opportunity.

I think this will be another ugly game.

UCONN in a game similar to the Stanford game. I think SC's perimeter scoring drys up and UCONN eeks by for title #12
This. I thought Jump and Hull would make enough threes to make a difference. But they were at one time 2-18. I think South Carolina could have one of those games as well.

Yeah, Caroline was given the task of guarding Haley Jones last night, a very tough task for a freshman against an All American. I think she gets more minutes tomorrow

Ha. UConn is playing "the same SC team they played earlier in the year." This is.... Quite an interesting take.

Hopefully we don't need to take 18 3s. However, if the shot is taken in the flow of the offense, SC usually rebound a good percentage of the miss. My concern is turning the ball over without getting a shot.

Of Stanford and UConn, we got the opponent we wanted. Bueckers doesn’t need anyone whispering in her ear “remember, you too are mortal.” Brea Beal will teach that lesson again, while UConn has no answer for Boston.

I've said similar to several friends. This is such a confidence boost in my opinion.

I've never understood this reasoning and why people resort to it so much.

"My team improved significantly during the season while your team stayed the same"

That's almost never the case. And it's not the case here either.

Well, at least I can watch with less investment and appreciate the beauty of the sport rather than the prospect of a repeat title...

Geno has never lost in a title game. Neither has Dawn (as a coach), though she's been to fewer. Someone's going to lose their perfect record, and I genuinely think it's a toss-up and comes down to who plays better in the fourth quarter.

I also don't understand why people resort to it so much:

"When we beat UConn earlier this season, Paige was healthy and playing."
