Tina Charles passed Sylvia Fowles as the WNBA's all-time leader in rebounds and double-doubles, and the Dream topped the Liberty to clinch the final playoff spot Thursday night.
So proud of her. Every accolade she gets is well deserved. One of the all time greats in the WNBA, but rarely gets the praise or publicity she should. What a tremendous representative of UConn as well. Way to go Tina!!!
Didn't she have a photo in her UConn locker of Sylvia guarding or blocking or scoring on her as motivation? Full circle moment to end up breaking Syl's records.
One of the MANY things I admire about Tina is her selflessness and willingness to make a positive difference in the world. It has been well documented on how she founded and the commitment she made to the Hopey's Heart Foundation to supply AEDs (defibrillators). When she started the foundation, it was only a matter of time before her work would save a life. Here she is meeting a man who's life she saved by making defibrillators more available:
She may never achieve the WNBA championship she worked so hard for, but she will always be a champion to many!
