With all of the discussion about Taurasi vs. Stewart vs. Maya, this little nugget got lost...

Tina Charles of the New York Liberty and Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks today were named the WNBA’s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played July 24-30.

Charles was selected Player of the Week for the 25th time in her eight seasons, extending her record for the most such awards in WNBA history. This marks her fourth Eastern Conference Player of the Week honor this season.

It pains me that her team is not really a contender, given that she has never won a WNBA championship. Ha, here I am feeling sorry for this McDonalds NPOY, college all american and two-time undefeated national champion, five-time WNBA all-star, and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. Tina, you rock!

Always loved Tina. She came to UConn because she knew Geno could bring out the best in her, and she worked really hard and that's exactly what happened. But she didn't stop working when she got to the WNBA. She is proof that you can be anything you want to be if you're willing to work hard for it. Super high praise for T!!!
