I'm dying here... What possible reason would he do that for - He knows his job is on the line if they don't produce next year and he pushes DB out?
If you were PP and your job was on the line, would you keep GD? If you thought DB was a likely replacement for you would you take every effort to keep him, or like to go 6-6 next year with new DC and say "even with new defensive scheme we were able to meet WM's lofty goals of getting into the WhoCares Bowl"?

Oh - the old conspiracy theory. Got it. Eliminate the guy that may take your job before he gets the chance. This isn't freaking Dunkin Donuts.

In your book. You likely believe in words, I believe in actions. He left kids he is recruiting and kids who are/were committed to play for him to move a few miles away. If he is as good as a coach as some here make him out to be would he really have been out on the street in a year? Give me a break. And save the assinine comments for 241

Yeah. And football coaches have great job stability and loyalty from their programs.

Or maybe not and in an enviroment where this fan base has ZERO loyalty, we got ZERO loyalty back.

Or is Loyalty a one way street???

The only loyalty these guys have to the the almighty buck-a-roo. Just like the rest of us, we normally go where we can make the most for ourselves and our families. To expect a quality DC to stick around after two 5-7 seasons might be a bit much to ask since his stock in trade is probably the highest it has been in a while. I say good luck to him and thanks for the two years. I know I certainly have enjoyed watching his defense.

Have you been eating breakfast with the Rock Star? Why no comment on keeping GD if PP is concerned about getting fired?

Ruskin, you violated a rule of the BY hear no evil, see no evil crowd. You posed a question in the face of a lack of information that may suggest the folks in Storrs are out to lunch in light of known facts. There are notorious offenders that insist on criticizingfor suggesting a problem in the face of manifest repeated failures.

Keep asking and probing, and dont let them get to you. Mind you, there are a few with vested UConn bureaucracy interests (ie.., paycheck takers whose job it is to defend leadership and CYA the University).

Hey if your whole conspiracy theories fall apart, why don't you try blaming non-Christians for the whole situation while you're at it?

Cuz that story is as clear as day... they truly believe (right or wrong) that they can turn it around in another year. I've said before that keeping GDL as a OC is not the right move and PP will live or die by it.

PP alledgedly stalling to tell WM that DB was leaving because he was afraid that he would take his job is not realistic.

WM THAT FAT DONUT EATING PIECE OF ••••. HE HAS DONE CLOSE TO NOTHING FOR US SINCE HE'S GOTTEN HERE. THE 1 AND ONLY REASON I ENJOYED UCONN FOOTBALL WAS OUR OUTSTANDING DEFENSE. THAT'S GONE, WE HAD A CHANCE TO AT LEAST GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO BE OUR HEAD COACH. INSTEAD MR. DUNKIN DONUTS HIMSELF DECIDED HE WOULD TAKE ANOTHER YEAR OF MEDIOCRITY WITH THE MUMMY. WHEN IT COMES TO CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT, HE COULDN'T SELL US OVER UL. AM SORRY FOR THE LONG STUPID RANT BUT I HAD TO RELEASE THE ANGER lol.

Edit: am not saying our defense will never be this good again, but It will take awhile and we will have to find a good dc which could take far to long.

Maybe she's wiccan? Maybe she's an atheist. Doesn't matter to me. Most of us celebrate Christmas and she ought respect that. I'm sure she'll take the day off.

You know, when someone who knows you don't celebrate a holiday wishes you a "Merry" one, it comes across as an insult? Did you know that? Way to use your religion in a positive light.

(I think I might have to end every future response to you with this one word because it seems so appropriate each and every time - there isn't anything PC about it though so I hope your thick skin can handle it)

Just in case you don't understand the above, let me summarize:
- I disagree with most of the things you have ever said on this board that I have read -most notably of which was that in your "debut" on the board I think you called for the President of UConn to be immediately fired a few months ago due to the performance of our football team
- More recently than that, you spout off about how the same President can't say Christmas when they are part of a publicly funded university are being too PC because it offends your (presumably) Christian sensibilities and as you said "most of us celebrate Christmas"
- As a non-Christian who has been discriminated against in the past due to my religion, that sort of attitude makes me very angry and, if at all possible, make me think even less of your opinion
- So while this all probably belongs somewhere on the Cesspool, I thought that might help you understand that when you start talking about how the people who disagree with you here must be UConn employees and have some sort of vested interest in disagreeing with you, it might not be that. It might be just because you are a jackass.

You're insulted? The majority are supposed to supress their christian faith, because you demand it? Too bad you're insulted. Have a Merry Merry Merry one. P.S. make sure you're not takin Christmas off.

This board is really getting toxic. You would think the events that transpired exactly one week ago as I type would pull people together during the Holiday season. What a sad commentary on society.

Sorry Jimmy (and to others who don't enjoy reading this kind of discourse). After reading about the NRA press conference today and the fiscal cliff lack of progress by our legislators, I don't think we're going to see lots of people pulling together anytime soon. The sides just seem to be too far apart and too interested in hearing from those who agree and reinforce their opinion as opposed to independent thinkers.

When it comes to my religion however, I've seen enough in the past to understand that it doesn't pay to stay silent in the face of antagonism. Maybe someday BlueDogs and others like him will understand the difference between a Federal Holiday and a religious holiday. He's probably still pissed off that Jews like me got to "skip" school for Yom Kippur so we could go stand in a synagogue all day. Lucky us.

Have a great holiday regardless of what you may celebrate.

I don't demand that you suppress anything. You are a private citizen and can do whatever is legal and saying Merry Christmas to whoever you want is certainly fine. Keep in mind however that what you seem to want is for a public official express a religious preference in her communications to the public and are somehow insulted that she doesn't.

As for working on Christmas, as noted above, please learn the difference between a Federal Holiday and a religious holiday.

How do you know what they truly believe, 'cause they said it? Gee, I'll bet PP would be the 1st guy facing the axe to tell his boss "no, just one more year and I'll turn it around". Just like PP told Hathaway "just hire me and my boy GD and we'll have the Uconn offense in the top 110 in only 2 years".

You do know that some guys facing the firing squad actually believe all the guns will jam?

Just moronic at every level. You have no idea what you're talking about. I suggest you invest a little time understanding the historical foundations of the United States. It was and remains a Christian nation founded on judeo christian precepts. Your rights do not stop the rights of the majority to celebrate and express their faith. The whole federal holiday argument is so off the point it is frightening. Most Jews I know are respectful and glady share a "Merry Christmas" to you, just as most people return the same courtesy in the other direction. The sanitization of Christian tradition from public discourse is hostile, disrespectful and contrary to society. You're so wrapped up in your faux minority status, you find Merry Christmas" offensive. Well, tough . I make no apologies to you or any others for offending.

Public officials wishing a Merry Christmas is not a constitutional violation. In fact, it is PC gone mad. It is the real insult that a public official lacks the sensibility to acknowledge wish the vast majority of citizens on important holiday. It shows disrespect and ambivalence, caring more to satisfy the few whiners like you.
