Time to take over NYC!

Good work digging that up @CTMike. I tried looking for some pics but they're all too far away to get any kind of scope of the size of the banner.

I want the "S" covered as well as all of "Syracuse". In other words, I don't want any of that obnoxious Syracuse BS to show. This is UCONN's first opportunity to show some NYC presence for football. We all know UCONN's presence is livin' large for basketball, but we also all know that hoops is not quite the needle mover in CR that football is. We need to stake our own UCONN flag in the NYC moon.
 
Yeah, we should probably keep this here. That sign is located in the heart of Army enemy territory. I doubt they'll lend a hand in our mission. Plus, let's not draw any pre-game security attention to this. I don't want anyone to get arrested or get in trouble of any kind. What I want: UCONN to claim it's piece of NYC. This is small and may seem silly, but my hope is it goes viral. Free UCONN marketing, of sorts.

@CTMike - please take down the Twitter ad. Thanks.
 
Twitter mention is down. I suppose like all things viral, you don't know when it might be viewed or RT'ed to hell. I thought it was a relatively safe bet. :)

My semi-trained eye says that banner is roughly 56 ft long.

The "S" looks like it's 8' x 10'

That's if the glass panels above it are 4x8 adjusted for the perspective.

I think the Attorneys who contribute to this board would advise against anything that covers or otherwise hinders advertising for which the Cuse pays. We'd be better served by not drawing attention to the things. I'm always surprised that a school that produces so many outstanding Madison Avenue types is relegated to "one-off" (unlinked/uncoordinated) type stadium and cab-top signage. I've been told by Cuse grads, by the way, that it's a waste of money.
 
You guys would probably make the front page of ESPN and the headline would read, "UConn fans cause death penalty for FB program". I can just see it now.....:p
 
A blurb in an article about our O-Line improvement stated this:

UConn, which is favored by 4.5, could be the next football program to begin a relationship with the Yankees organization, according to Mark Holtzman, the Yankees' executive director of non-baseball events. He told the media in New York in March in a press conference about the UConn-Army game: "I wanted to have you guys play here for many years. ... we want you to consider Yankee Stadium down the road your home away from home, and hopefully this is the start of many games that you'll be playing here in the future."

Unfortunately for us our prior regime never considered this as it would have required actual work on their part.

saw that, is good to highlight... giving lower fairfield county some exposure, and getting us into the city footprint should be positive for our brand... that and winning there of course...

Oh, the irony. During the Orlavsky buildup year to full 1-A status, UConn games were broadcast on the YES Network. I vividly remember watching the Huskies play at Buffalo in one such contest. Too bad that the relationship didn't bloom as a result of this.

Seems absurd that it has taken this long for UCONN to finally play a game in NYC. With the public battle going on between the B1G and ACC for the #1 DMA, you would think that it's fairly obvious that playing games in said market would be a great way to get out of the AAC. This program has been on cruise control for far too long and comments like this from Holtzman only point to that.

I dont know the issue with the Tennessee series but if we needed to move it for my eyeballs - Do it!

Who knows what's going on there? I know Tennessee wanted to play at the race track (I'm not a NASCAR fan but admit that the concept is really cool) so it might have had to do with scheduling around that. The series is "suspended", whatever that means, so I'm hoping it will stay signed...even if it means moving our end of the deal to Yankee Stadium (or Gillette).

There should be plenty of 'blockers' to allow a clean break for the endzone!!

I would think even Army fans would agree with the adjustment!

Specialist Husky has been VERY Quiet...I like that!

And we want you to consider burning the stupid sign depicting some upstate private college as NY's team. Let's make it happen, Mark!
