I knew we would get a post like this..... Lose him and you are really screwed......
Why risk injury to the sherriff in a bad game to boot.??

Quite frankly, there were reasons that NC State wanted to convert him to another position - he can't throw nor even make the progressions one needs to make as a QB.
Now that the OL has shown some improvement over last year and his running ability has become less important. In fact while it clearly was the key to the first drive - once Cincy adjusted for that - it actually became a non factor. He is a decent opportunist runner but not a great runner when the other team keys on it.
As for the best UConn QB since Danny O it was clearly Frazier but it's amazing how the casual fans on this board never make him part of that conversation.

You are wrong.

And people claimed me and Jimmy were driving people away from the Boneyard!

Boyle hasn't performed as QB here (it can be argued that shy of a few moments here or there by a couple of QB's, nobody has since Dan O) but the vitriol by some boneyarders is mind boggling.

Do you wanna see what Boyle would look like behind this oline against the Dlines we have faced such as Mizzou and BYU. Its not as if we are loaded at qb. Well see how Sherrifs will respond from this.

Nope, that is not what I am saying. I wouldn't change anything we have done with the QB starting games to date. What I am saying that I would like to see Boyle play an entire half sometime in the next three games - but only if we are down big at half time. Boyle clearly showed a bigger arm in his few Cincy snaps. I am curious what that bigger arm might look like with this set of receivers and the 'new' Newsome. It maybe good for everyone on the team to see something different from the huddle. If his second half audition looks good and we continue to lose games, then I would let Boyle start the last game of the season. Of course, I would only be doing this if Boyle also showed something in practice - otherwise forget all of this.

QB play aside, the real problem is not at QB - its with the OLine. Neither the TEs or entire OLine unit can pass block. I know we like to tell ourselves its improving...but its really not.

...It's garbage time, sure, but this is our best drive of game that wasn't all QB runs or Cincy penalties. Shireffs has been turnover prone lately, I can't believe I'm saying it but should Boyle get a chance?

Mike - Not saying TB isn't better than Shirreffs but you certainly cannot make that determination off of his performance vs Cincy. On every down TB had all day to make his reads. He did have a nice touch on the pas in the flat but again, he had all day to make up his mind. Shirreffs rarely gets 2 seconds - often less. As someone said, this was against Cincy's 3rd team defense. I have nothing against TB but IMO TB's performance did nothing to elevate him over Shirreffs.

BS has time to throw, if they can do quick routes. He just doesn't like to throw to single coverage. Likes a challenge.

No one on this roster will be there, when the team is good.

....... on the bench with a set of headphones and clipboard or making sure BS doesn't get croaked in a laugher in the 4th qtr.
