i'm gonna keep saying it because i like the sound of it, and i think she's deserving. two unreal games for her in a row. i really hope she has a good game at Duke. they have some really good guards that should challenge UCONN...

She needs a good game against Duke. Tiffany has been abysmal in UConn's biggest games, while one of her teammates (Bria) has been simply outstanding.

Bria Hartley has only scored 42 points in the last four games combined.

Yup, I feel like Tiffany Hayes is going to go down as having a very "Strother" like career. Instrumental in our championship success. Excellent player at Connecticut, but just shy of All American.

She's played great these past two games, but hasn't played well in big games. That's not going to get her a post season award.

No offense intended to DePaul, but none of the last four games have been big games.
Plus, you've got to be pretty good when you can average double digits and have it labeled "only".

From John A.'s blog:

Auriemma managed to put things into perspective.

“This is the best I have ever seen her play and for the longest stretch, as well,” Auriemma said. “She is almost in a comfort zone you love to see players get into. She may be hot enough to carry the team.”

Tiff will have plenty of opportunities to show her stuff in big games. UConn's regular season schedule includes at least 5 games against ranked opponents (Duke, Rutgers, L'ville, Georgetown and ND).

Boy, I hope you are right! What a great time for her to come alive. Now we are starting to see the girl we all thought would lead this team in her senior year. I could just sense the spirit flowing into the other players as they watched Tiffany's performance today. The Duke game will be huge if she continues her effort.

Shekinna Stricklen was on the pre season All American team. Its possible that if Tiff continues the play she's had in the past two weeks, that she could make the team over Shekinna. UConn is having a better year then Tenn and I would argue that Tiff is more valuable to UConn then Shekinna has been to Tenn. I'm not sure if there are other players that would be more deserving then both Tiff and Shekinna.

Including 3 big Monday games on the ESPN network: @ Duke, @ Ok and ND at home.

Exactly. That's what I was thinking. People around the country are going to get a good look at her.

If Tiff can maintain something approaching her current level of play (let's say an average of 20 points with her usual floor game and defense for the rest of the year), and if UConn rides that to the Final Four, then she will be an All American. If UConn wins the NC, she could be among the top 5 in the WNBA draft.

Otherwise, she will probably drop to the late first run of the draft and be taken by the Connecticut Sun.

While Syracuse and USF are not great teams, they are decent, well coached, and mentally tough. These last two games could have been awfully tight if not for Tiffany.

The primary knock on Tiff has been poor performances against top teams. Let's see what she does on Monday. I hope she is outstanding. She is building her resume for consideration for post-season awards. For those not paying attention, she recently passed Former All Americans Jen Rizzotti and Swin Cash in career scoring.

I saw somewhere (it might have been here but I don't think so) somebody broke down the career scoring list, and barring injury, Tiff seems on course to become UConn's all time #10 scorer, just behind Sveta and just ahead of Ann S.

Well, we have a pretty tough six-game stretch coming up. If Tiff can keep playing like this during that run, she wil have certainly earned significant national consideration.

Bria had a poor game against DePaul and one today. Hope she's ready to get vintage on Duke's ass Monday.

It was here, and that is correct. She actually has a shot at Sveta. Renee, who is next, is out of reach. Tiff passed Swin Cash today. Nice accomplishment!

Geno was asked about this in his presser and he said it all comes down to how you do in the "big tv games that everyone watches". He felt that's why Bria and KML were on the list.

So it was here. That made more sense to me, but for some reason I remember seeing it in a facebook page format.

If she keeps scoring the way she's been scoring the last couple of games, or even close to it, then Sveta does come within reach. Passing Swin and Jennifer already puts Tiff well up among our royalty.

We're doomed!

I get the humor, Icebear, but I was simply trying to point out that Bria's scoring production has been pretty low recently. A lot of missed shots. For someone who is averaging 14.5 points a game for the season, she only scored a total of 24 points vs. South Florida (8), DePaul (10), and Cincinnati (6). Just an observation. She usually rises to the occasion when the Huskies are playing a highly ranked team. Let's see what happens vs. Duke tomorrow night.

I see a very similar trend with Sims at Baylor. In the big games she is money and her shooting percentage and points go down against the lesser opponents. Not sure why.

Prior to the last cpl of huge games by Tiff much was being said about how well she has been playing. I was thinking to myself we need this kind of consistent play and leadership from our Sr for the rest of the season. We need this play from her to have a chance for what to me at the beginning of the season was an" Inprobable Championship Season". Also it was the gap between the 2 UNDEFEATED NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS and the # of Special Seasons starting in 2012. The End of the Maya Era had her carrying us on her back to the Final Four "without the injured Carolyn, the transferred Walker midseason, and the "NEVERWAS" EDD. Any or all would IMHO resulted in #*. This year I didn't think we had the horses to get #8 and I would root and pray just the same, bu tin the back of mind was wow 2012-++++. Both seasons, 1st with the end of the MAYA ERA<where I became amazed that we actually could win it all and this year with a "less than NC team" it was root, support and WAIT TILL "the 3 young women who will be enrolling this summer" ;)
Inspite of the 2 losses to the Griner led Baylor Team<5 pts on the road and coulda won> and the aganizing Skylar led ND<OT loss we shoulda won> I looked around the other teams and ours and daily read and talked to fellow fans and believed we could win this year. My mantra became 6+,7,8,9,no injuries, and getting the most out of the core 6.
Having been a fan since I was a little kid, when you had to wait till your SO year to play Varsity ball and then everyone stayed thru their SR seasons.<This was both men and women> I did see the SRS raise their game and become the true leaders. How does all that I have typed connect with Tiff;)
What I am seeing is a SR raising her game and becoming the player we saw glimpses of in earlier years. A player who is pushing herself into the National Limelight, playing the kind of ball we need from our lone SR,playing Consistent good+ basketball. She will end up being a 1st team BE member, but if we are going to get to where we want,Tiff has to play this way the rest of the season!!! In the BIG games, she has to come up BIG. We also need the other core 5 to play well, stay healthy, push, drag, support, give the 7,8,9<LeRoy Jethro Gibbs slaps in the back of the head>. Let them be led individually, and most importantly as a team by that High School/McD All American Senior Tifany Hayes. She has shown us glimpses of leadership and excellence. Now is the time for her to continue to raise her game and leadership to the level we require to achieve what we all want!
If Tiff plays the way she has,Eric's belief that she deserves to be on Awards Lists, will be heard across the continent, around the basketball globe, become the leader of this CT team playing CT HUSKIE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP type ball. Awards will be there, those she does not receive or is not listed on will be a loud "WHAT???" She will achieve what she will have a lifetime to enjoy;)
Eric here is hoping that what you are expressing becomes a level of play and leadership that results im many HUGE RESULTS for TIFF and.................
A BIG Game resulting in a BIG WIN against Duke will make the Tiff chant become louder
